What the heck does 95% blackfaced mean anyways?????
No vibrato, bad reverb tank, a bad speaker, crappy tolex and suspect mods and still asking $550?????

Playing Devil's advocate...

$500 for a '69 Super Reverb is super cheap; it would be worth talking to the seller to see if the transformers are original. If so, any "mods" could be either kept or changed back to correct specs fairly easily. This is one of the most desirable Fender amps

Probably worth a call to at least ascertain what's been done to it. It's definitely been ridden hard and put away wet, but there may be value there.

It looks like a pot maybe in the back replacing the spare outlet. That usually is this crazy variable global feedback mod, which was popular 10 years ago, correct?

It would REALLY be nice to see a photo of the circuit, as well as the trannies. Much time and effort can be put into setting this sort of amp back to "normal." Why anyone would modify such a great amp is beyond me.

Ned and Beemer...It sure would make a great project for the right person...a little work under the hood, a little tolex, new faceplate and a couple of matching speakers off the bay and you got a really fine amp! One worth easily $1500!

T2Stratman, do you really think that could be made into a $1500 amp with all those issues? There would be very little orginal about it when you got finished.

I suppose worth a look to the right person to really ascertain the cost needed to fix. Just adding up some of those individual items that he has listed gets you up there pretty quick not to mention the hidden issues you might find.

I guess there is always the possiblity to talk him down as well.

Yes...I do. The early SF were pretty close to BF anyway...that may be what the seller is referring to for all we really know, without a look at the amps guts. Especially so if the transformers are original. Think about it, retolexing costs maybe $150 (if you do it yourself), a couple of CTS 10 Alnicos of the bay for $150 a pair, and a new face plate from Marsh Amplification, some new grill cloth/logo, and if you can work on the wiring yourself, you got an amp that will sound great and be cosmetically revamped. As for the $1500 that may depend on your location in the states as they do vary a bit, but not out of the question.

IMO no . $1500 must be all original in good shape, not just looking.
But for $500 with a new speaker you have the sound and quality of a very good ( blackface) amp.
