can i convert a Peavey classic 50 4x10 combo to a fender bassman? someone gave me a chassis that has the big transformer and some other parts.. part of the circuit board, knobs ,tube sockets etc.. I was thinking about rebuilding with a old style board. or would it be better to sell all the parts and apply towards a fender amp kit? what would you do with it? :!: thanks for any advice rock on!

Isn't a Peavey Classic 4 x EL84s? With different front end and iron... it's going to be hard to get a dual 6L6GC Bassman tone. You'll be hard put to get an EL84 to have the headroom of a good 6L6GC.

You can do this in just two easy steps:

Step 1: Post Peavey here: http://www.ebay.com
Step 2: Purchase Bassman

Done!

jimitrader, don't know if you've already read this, but Peaveys can be the most difficult amps to work on. I've had several ppl bring basket cases over, to fix. Amps that had attempted mods done to them. Or even ones that refuse to bias correctly, due to mucked up circuit boards or what not.

Nothing beats the real thing. Or if you want 5150 loud in vintage tone, maybe the 1962 JTM-45 with KT-66s.

Have a nice T-Day!
