Saw this on eBay, don't quite get it, is this a silverface VR made into a blackface VR? The watts on the tube chart seemed out of whack (as does the whole Scotch taped chart), but I am well known for my amp(le) ignorance. Why even do this?

I looks ok, but with the extent of the modifications it's way overvalued. At least I wouldn't pay that much for it.

This amp has had most of its components (coupling caps and bypass cap) replaced. I'm not sure why all of the coupling caps have been replaced. This is usually unnecessary.

PLus, it seems that the heater wires and power lines off the power transformer seem to have be changed out. Really need to know the history of the unit, IMHO.

When I first saw this, I thought it said $12,995 as the BIN price and had a flashback that it was being offered by "He Who Shall Not Be Named" selling another "Stupidly Rare Amp"...

Definately need to know the history with this amp before purchasing.

Concur with Beemer!!! My main concern would be the filament/heater wiring. Looks to be 22AWG, obviously it works, but heat may be a problem down the line. JMO... Art.... Yeah Tony, wonder where our favorite blogger set down?
