Wow! talk about '"Destructo" the Delivery Man!

Have any numbers stamped on the back of that speaker? How does the chassis & amp's circuitry look? Any damage to the transformfers?

Need speaker ID number on the frame of the unit to help identify. Usually on back of speaker.

You seem to have a lot of potential damage to that amp. Maybe go through the circuit throughly, before worrying about the speakers.

BTW... that is an after-market power tranny. It's a Marvel (989). I believe these are off-shore Heyboer knock-offs. Blown PTs can be an indication of something very bad happening in the part. Just a heads-up.

Good luck!

Heyboer is a pretty well-known company, esp for their custom wound transformers. There have been several Asian countries recently making trannies using Heyboer's technique and being sold as Heyboer, but not made to the same standards.

Marvel trannies are one of them. Their irons use to be made in US. But, rumour had it, that the major protion of assembly and R&D left (outsourced) from Chicago to HK and China (in the late 2008-10 era). Now there are only a few specialized trannies are still made from parts to final products in the USA --- in their line. Mostly custom winds.

I have heard of Marvel issues on other boards. They seem to now supply off-shore trannies to Magnetic Component (Classic Tone) Note the link to Mag Comp midway down the right side of the site? Some say that this one of the reasons for early failure and improper PIV , impedance, and other "off-stats" on certain new unit. Plug the thinner, not as well assembeled lammination of the new stuff. Not usually seen on the older (pre-2004) Classic Tone trannies.

NB: When I Google: Marvel, transformers, problems --- I got ---->

The Transformers are Hasbro, not Marvel creations... SIGH

motoz, provided you can get that amp working reasonably reliabie. I like the CTS Alnico 10-incher in mine. Very Bluesy tone.

Weber 12A125 are good too, for that Bluesier tone. Here being install into a SR:

motoz, as long as the power cord has been properly replaced by a three prong type (with ground strap to chassis), that GROUND SWTICH should be bypassed. As in this diagram. Note: Black (hot) line to fuse

Is this a Master Volume model (push-pull volume control)? I have not played on one of these, so can't tell you.
