Just wondering about what you folks like in your Princeton Reverbs. Don't have the amp yet. I'll probably go with an Amperex or Phillips recto, Marconi or Phillips for power, GE for the PI. The rest is yet to be determined. Thinkin' a TFK for the input. But never having one of these amps, I just don't know. Thanks, Art

Just about any good NOS tubes will make a vintage PR shine.

In my '65 I have the Bugle Boy GZ34, a pair of Motorola-marked GE gray-plate 6V6GT's, RCA's in the V1 and V2 positions, a JAN Philips in V3, and a Raytheon as a phase inverter. It's very warm and punchy, pushing a CTS alnico from a '67 Super Reverb. It also idles as quiet as a church mouse.

Here's the output & rectifier tubes, in an AA1164 PR I worked on. It runs a 5U4GB in the recitifier. RCA mil spec 6V6GTY and TS 5U4GB. Very nice tubes.

Beemer, I see you after aftermarket trannies in your champ. How do you like those mercury magnetic transformers? I'm thinking of getting an OT for a 5e3 kit I have.

Art, this was a DIY PR. The Mercury Mags are pretty good . Very stout sounding. Not as Bluesy as the original Schumacher. I went to a 5U4GB to gain a touch of sag. My "real" AB764 still sounds better. The Merc's PT puts a bit more B+ onto the plates (about 15-20VDC for the one I choose). You need to take this into account, in the bias supply. As it feeds off the PT.

Amp is gone, now. Owner hasn't contacted me (which is usually means all is well).
