Apparently not -- he made a handful of inquiries and departed soon thereafter.

Pity......

:(

Accutronics did not supply the reverb tanks for that amp, or any other Fender model built during this era. Back then, the tanks were sourced through Gibbs.

e-mailed the guys at fender this is what they said:

It was an Accutronics,…P/N 0020489000,…we still stock it,…you can order from your local dealer.

but they don't have any accutronics numbers so I'm trying to cross-ref it

Perhaps so.

But the Super Showman was first released in 1969 (discontinued circa late '71 or early '72).

Here's a summary history of Accutronics......

http://www.accutronicsreverb.com/main/? ... 03_01.html

Note that the first Accutronics-made-and-marked reverb tanks were not available until 1971.

So what tank was installed in the Super Showmans made in those first two years of production......?

Customer-service reps may *think* that they know it all.

But they don't.

But didn't Gibbs start out as a manufacturing division of Hammond/Accutronics? Then split, then got bought by Accutronics?

Talk about a dysfunctional family.

P.S. The computers we use at work were invented by HP engineers after HP said they didn't want it back in 72. Compaq bought the company in 97. We all know that HP bought Compaq, and now these servers are the top of the HP lineup. Funny how that stuff just comes around.

Likely it's for a modern-manufacture Accutronics tank which may in fact be the correct electronic equivalent for the Super Showman. I mentioned the Gibbs only in the interest of historical accuracy for restoration purposes where originality matters. Try to find a US-made Accutronics component though -- the offshore import tanks are junk.
