Friend has the "itchy nuts" for this amp. Anyhow ever play though it? And how does it compare to, say the 1962 Pro?

Nuch thanks!

Basically the Vibrasonic is half of a Showman amp -- an extremely clean 40-watt platform (some sources cite it as closer to sixty), with the legendary harmonic trem, and a JBL D130 (no letter suffix) 15-inch speaker, all packed into a combo package. It's an outstanding mix of features for virtually any type of music but it really shines for jazz and for pedal-steel players. The OT is close to twice the size of that in a brownface Pro, Concert, or Vibroverb and the filter-cap array under the doghouse resembles that of the 6G14 Showman (seven huge electrolytics).

Arjay, thanks! So it's "kinda" like a brownface version of the Bandmaster with a 15-inch speaker. Which ain;t bad, at all.

I would characterize the Vibrasonic as a 6G14 Showman power supply and pre-amp driving an AB763 Super Reverb output stage, coupled with the variable NFB loop and presence control, plus Leo's legendary harmonic trem -- all wrapped up in a "Vibroverbish" 1 x 15 JBL combo package.

SHEER SONIC BLISS.

Add a 6G15 reverb tank and you could literally rule the world.

Keep in mind that a 50 year old amp bought unplayed/untested and shipped might need some work to get the sound right.

+1

Money should always be budgeted and allocated for incidentals.
