I have a few possible configurations and wondered what you fellas thought

I have two 2x12 cabs in one I have a Tonker and a Swamp Thang (arriving today)
In the other I have two C-Rex speakers

Here is my thought would an A/B box be safe to switch up the cabs for totally different tonal options ???

Or should i wire them in series making each 16 ohms and use both inputs on the back of the head (which is wired in parallel) creating an 8 ohm load ????

I know the BM wants to see 4 ohms but 8 wont hurt it

The tonker and the swamp thang will be tighter in the low end (huge understatement)
The C-rex just sounds sweet overdriven a bit

Tonker / swamp thang 150 watts per speaker
C-rex about 50 per speaker

Kinda leaning towards the A/B box

I guess an A/B would work. You could also wire them in parallel {equals 4-ohms, if I read your post correctly}.

I would not trust an A/B box for speaker switching under any circumstance.

The cabs are 4 ohms now 8+8 parallel = 4ohms

Ya Arjay as much as i want to be able to switch cabs on the fly, the idea of trusting my trannies to a box scares the stuff out of me too.

Guess I'll just reach back there and swap cabs when i feel the need

Getting ready to install the swamp thang this afternoon, my guess is that in a week or so, combined with the Tonker will be one tuff sounding cab !!!

Happiness is a hot soldering iron so.....
Off I go to install the Swamp thang in my cab.

I'm waiting on some 12" grills before I mount the two c-rex speakers, never thought I would like the 12" metal grills, but they do an excellent job of protecting the speakers.

I might do an A/B sound clip to see if I can hear the differences in the two cabs recorded.

Hav'n some fun

Bluesbondsman...you sound like you are in heaven and having loads of fun with this

Have you thought about just using them in a stereo set up? Just a thought.

Yep its a darn shame i gotta put down my guitars and go make a stink'n liv'n 8)

O.K. guys I put both cabs together, The tonker and Swap Thang are in the ported cab, sounds good but has some ice pick, It should tame in time the Tonker is only three months old without much use, the Swamp thang is brand new as of today.

However the two Cannabis Rex speakers are in the closed back non ported cab and Holy Smoke !!!! sweet fender warm tones !!!
Can't believe I ever got rid of my first c-rex and the alnico I had it mated with.
DANG !!!! and again DANG !!! that sounds so good !

I tried running them at the same time (only for a minute) since the two cabs together only give the tranny 2 ohms and its a 4 ohm tranny

Also ran a new OD pedal tonight coupling it with my Cmatmods Signa Drive, the new pedal is a Machine Head 72 degree, so my signal chain was my L/P jr with a P-90 my compressor (route 66) the 72 Degree and the signa drive, levels cranked, gain on the lowest setting for both OD's

Touch harmonics the easy way !!!!!
But I can still hear the notes !
My neighbor stopped by and said I was showing off LOL !!!!
