What do you guys think about this? Its a little beat up, not a collector piece, but about a grand and looks original.

Sure does look original and clean on the inside. Should be a pretty sweet sounding little porch weasel.

+1

Mid '64 production, one of the last 6G2's built.

Looks like everything's "there".

What speaker?

Kinda looks like a Oxford Ceramic...but hard to tell.

Arjay, when did Schumacher go to PVC insulation? I noticed that this legit PT has that. Yet, I've seen plenty of newer (post 1964) production trannies with cloth covered (push-back) insulation.

Much thanks!

Oxford weren't typically painted black in the early '60s.

Could be though, I s'pose.

I've seen original brownfaces with trannies that had the neoprene-insulated wires.

Could just be "the luck of the draw" (whatever W-S happened to be using on the day a particular tranny was wound).

+1...but CTS's ceramics were, but the basket sure looks to be an Oxford. Maybe some better close up pics?

I've been looking at that one also. I think its a bit high. There's been a couple of brownface 6G2 going for around $1,200-$1,300 that look a lot better than that one. I was thinking if I was going to make an offer it would be south of $1K. I'm waiting for a brownface to show up locally.

I thought this brown Deluxe looked like a better deal.

Here is a pic of the CTS, no numbers that I can see

The guys says he had to swap out this speaker and is shipping it with a weber alnico and a vintage jensen c10r that needs reconing. This looks like one of the period correct speakers.

That appears to be an Oxford 10J4 -- one of several types you might encounter in a 6G2. Have the Jensen C10R re-coned as soon as the amp arrives then install it. Keep the Weber as a spare.
