Very cool.

Interesting that the market found a solution since chroming is getting expensive and difficult. I could see using this process in architectural design. Instead of just painting steel, you could use this "chrome" painting method. Let alone rechroming metal parts on an amp you might be restoring.

Impressive to say the least!

You could chrome an entire guitar.

Jay nailed it with having to do the chrome bezels around knobs on the dash of an old car, or redoing just about anything you could paint!

This stuff is fantastic!

I don't see this as being as tough as actual chrome. It does look good though.

Ark...I think this stuff is what the auto manufacturers have been using to chrome thier pastic grills, trim pieces, and in headlight reflectors (plastic too) and if it is, it is pretty tuff stuff for the most part.

I too share your concerns about the long-term outdoor durability of parts plated using this process.

Time will tell, I reckon......

having just finished restoring a 67 Pontiac Lemans with a lot of chrome and stainless, this does look interesting, but a lot of the money in re-doing chrome is the prep work. On the piece they're holding up in the video, they still have to get rid of all that pitting; in some cases filling may be needed. That's what can really eat up the costs.

May be less than real chrome if you have little to no surface problems, but then again, if you can gang up your orders, they can all be dunked in the tank at the same time and it's not as expensive.

Glad I've got a guy 10 miles away who still does it oldschool, but this is good to know when he has to close up shop.

just got back from Cleveland; let me add my site back up to my own website as it went down in July when Mobile Me went away. Bought in 2005; third owner. Took down to bare metal, cut away the rot, and then resprayed in original Fathom Blue Metallic.

Here's one from our band's facebook page; I'm the nut behind the wheel...
