Arjay, interesting. But, note how the amp is setup with a LOT of pre-amp OD? For every different combination? Be very interesting how a good 12AX7 stacks up to the solid-state replacement units, when played clean. Or just before OD... to allow the guitar knobs and playng to just a get a touch of OD, on demand.

I have a good idea what would happen in that case.

Interesting.

I'd like to see a real shoot-out with current tubes and/or NOS.

I'd like to hear it in person as opposed to on my computer speakers.
I can't imagine there would be a similar depth and organic feel you get with tubes.

Seems like the solution to the problem no one has.

Fail.

I bought some of those tubes in Tokyo and they are just like the SS rectifier units people put inside the Hickok tube testers, like the 83 and the 5Y3GT. Some companies put a LED inside them so they glow, they are only like 3/4" actual, the rest is hollow for the LED light to glow. I was not impressed with them. They seem to muffle the tone.

I personally like the electrons fighting each other inside the glass squared circle. Vintage tube tone will always be my standard in the vintage amps.

I have the new Crown IT12000HD amps for my May/2012 JBL Line Array PA system, 5 amps each side. That's about as much solid state as I want to get. All Socapex cables, 8 speaker high per side suspended by cable winch. Need some sound?

Ditto all.

My post on the You Tube demo:

Not impressed. If you want to demonstrate what these things sound like, do it with a clean sound and not some cranked up, overdriven and distorted sound that any OD pedal can replicate.

Can't find a price, they're not microphonic, guaranteed for life. I assume they use a regulator to get a consistent gain.
