the good news is I have a baby on the way, bad news is I don't think I'm going to be able to keep my tremolux... it works great and is pretty much all original(new LDR, tubes and 3 prong plug are not stock)

Your pics are not visible.

I don't think you can hot-link a URL from a secure log-in site to this forum.

thanks for the tip, they work for me, so I had no clue... I'll try to fix them, and link them somewhere else :|

added the pics, lmk if they still cannot be seen...

if someone wants more pics, or specific ones, I'll be happy to take more....

I've owned this amp for 20 years. it was just checked out by a great shop here in Dallas.... they rebiased it, and changed the LDR to fix the tremolo but said it needed nothing else...

Looks like it's in very very good condition to me

I was considering buying a Tremolux for a while and they tended to sell in the $800-1000 range for the head unit. I'm sure you could find a buyer at that price.

+1

More even if it's a "stupid/rare" variant such as a brownface 6G9 with 6BQ5's in the output stage.

That looks very nice. I wouldn,t think you would have a hard time selling it. You might have a hard time letting it go though. I would.

it's been a long road coming to this point... it's usually too big for what I need, so I've been using a smaller amp more and more... no it doesn't sound nearly as good... but even at 2, the amp can be a bit much for a small room (10x10)... and never reaches a point of "breakup"... my 15w tube amp is way more than enough for the room... and I can kick it into 4w mode and get a nice breakup without bothering my wife watching TV in the other room.

I'm not exactly a clean blues/country player, so I'm always having to push with a pedal...

then I have a baby on the way, which was planned, but still kinda a surprise...

my gigging days are over. if I get 15 minutes of un-interrupted playing... that's golden

Yes Fender's much maligned "Ignorant" series, which are now selling on eBay for the price of a down payment on a small house.

Rhust! Best of luck with the new baby! Is this your first? You are right, time will be in short supply. But, if you haven't had a kid before, rest assured, you will find the the time!

I'm lucky that somehow my 2x10 Bassman set up is quiet enough to play while the kids are sleeping and not too intrusive while my wife is watching TV. Is an attenuator an option for you?
My amp gets 'bedroom volumes' I believe due to a smaller output transformer installed by the previous owner. I play lots of clean soul music so breakup is not necessary; I use my Fulltone OCD if I really need to rock when things are quiet.

Hope you find the right fit whether you sell the amp or not

yes, first child :)

using a pedal is the way I've been doing it, and it does sound great that way, but it can still be a little too much, even when way low... I put the bass almost all the way down and it still gets kinda heavy... thought about putting a bit of carpet there and a bit of isolation, but really, something smaller is probably better and makes more sense.

I'm a member of the "new baby club" as well. You'll still find time to gig as long as you have a spouse/partner who is supportive. I do about 1 a month and it's not too big a deal. Practice at home with my loud amps however... that's another story.

I'm in a similar boat as you. I've got a SRRI that I'm thinking on parting with. It's just too much amp for 95% of what I do these days. It's too loud to turn up enough to enjoy that beautiful tone even in band situations. Most of the rooms I play are pubs or small clubs and my 12w 5E3 is more than enough since I too like to play dirty and drive the amp. If I do play a bigger stage, I've also got a CVR that is an awesome amp. Do any of them sound like a Super Reverb? No, but I'm not really able to enjoy my SRRI at all so wondering if I should part with it. However, don't be too hasty. I can pick up another SRRI anywhere, but if I had something unique like that Tremolux... well I'd have to think about it for a long time before pulling the trigger.

And yeah, put some carpet under that cab. Those hardwoods reflect a ton of sound.

you misunderstood... it's been 15 years since my last gig(god it doesn't seem that long ago though)

since then it's been all apartment/bedroom playing

hell for a couple years there, my amp wasn't even plugged in, I just used headphones and a line6 pod type thing...

this has not been a decision made lightly... I've tossed this around for years, not days... I love the clean tone, but never turning it up to 3+ isn't exactly hearing all of the amp either...

I picked up a Kustom 15w not long back, all tube, but completely different... character not the cleanest tone, but not real dirty either...

I'd recommend a Vibrochamp -- blackface or silverface.

Five watts, pure joy.

heh, thought about one of those, or even one of the newer vibrochamp xd models... they say the tube channel is really good.

in reality I'll probably try to cop one of those blackstar HT-5r heads. or something along those lines... gain, master volume, B/M/T... the blackheart 15w would also fit the bill nicely I think... 15 w mode for headroom, with gain low, and 5w mode for the crunch. something along those lines, kinda low cost, small, still pocket a chunk of change from the tremolux

Fifteen watts will still likely drive you (or others) from the house......

oh, I know... the 15w kustom has no master volume and gets quite loud, but can be quiet enough, too

a 15w with a master volume where I can dial a little or a lot of gain up and turn the Master down I think will be doable...

a 1 watt tube can can be too loud for that matter, but gives me a little more control...

the HT5 is a 5 watt with master volume, which is the smallest master volume amp I've found..

a 5-15w amp makes an attenuator more doable too... I've read from several sources you need more than double the wattage for your attenuator vs the amp... so my tremolux would need a 70-100w attenuator(which all seem the price of a new small, whereas a 5 watt amp could work with a 10-20 watt attenuator(which can be built at home)

the vibrochamp ( I wish fender made a 5w reverb amp in the silverface era) with an attenuator is an idea... or a princeton reverb even, but that bad boy is pretty loud before breakup

I've also seen schematics for building a 5e3 amp with a VVR master volume setup... 12 watts of tweed at low volumes... maybe I'll build one of those eventually...

also thought about a hybrid *gasp* amp... like a vox ac15VR which is great because you get those tones at low volumes
