I have a '72 Twin Reverb that was recently refurbed (new caps, pots, etc). Both speakers work, but one a lot louder than the other. The speakers are Fenders and have identical markings and numbers. What's up?

Check each speaker's impedance with a DVM. It's possible you have a mis-matched pair. If correct for the amp, they should each have a DCR reading of approximately 8 ohms.

A speaker can have a broken paper cone . You may have to unscrew from the balffle to see .

Or
The defective speaker could have a higher reading 15 ohms than the other 6 ohms . Higher treading = less louder

Speaker Impedance is 8 ohms , but with a tester it read close to 6 ohms

Speakers measured 6.2 ohms. After I reseated the wiring on each speaker, I tested it again...the right speaker sounds fine now. Maybe a lousy connection that was cleaned up by me removing the speaker wires to measure the impedance....??..!
Sounds GREAT now! Nice amp.... as clean as my VibroVerb from the same era!

There is a "plug in" lugs on speaker terminals ? They sometimes need to be tightened ; fragile

+1

Be gentle......no Mr T or Hulk Hogan demonstrations here.

Corrosion is often an issue with older amps, especially those that have been subjected to the salt air of a coastal region.

Glad you're back on the road, Technoid.

Rawk on!
