I like your amp.
Supposed to be 100 pounds with Oxfords.
1972's are supposed to be 100w of power = four power tubes, right?
The 1972 is supposed to carry a 4-ohm load.
What wattager and ohm values do your speakers have?
How does it all divide out towards each speakers share?

I am interested towards how the amp handshake values
divide with six speakers? Thanks ahead of time for the info.
Toppscore :)

The answers to your speaker questions are on the schematic which T2S and Beemer have already posted. If you need help understanding schematics then start a new thread and I'll be happy to help you.

Took the SSR in for servicing on Saturday to a local amp guru.

Right of the top he noted that the pre tubes were all mixed up. Probably part of the reason for the reverb issue. Said it will make a world of difference to have everything right. Apparently there is a diagram usually glued inside the cab with the correct tube order. This had gone missing on this amp and someone had gotten things mixed up. He was very impressed with the original 7025's saying they are not made any more and pretty expensive and hard to find.

Can't wait to get this monster back in business. Will keep everyone posted on the progress.

Your tech is correct.

US production of industrial/commercial 7025's passed into history during the mid '80s when the last of the military equipment to use these tubes was deemed obsolete and put out to pasture.

Interesting factoid Arjay!

Update, just got the estimate...

Need to replace the filter caps, 2 were leaking and 2 others were pregnant. Will be putting in Sprague Atoms. Reverb transformer was open, so no wonder I thought the reverb was weak! Replacing that.
One of the 7025's was weak and we will replace that.
The power tubes all look good...yay!

Yunno, it's amazing I thought the amp sounded so good. It makes me wonder how different/good it will sound when this is all said and done.

Insist that your tech measure the value of those Sprague Atom's before he installs them. There have been a rash of SA's discovered whose actual values did not jive with the markings on the cap itself. You might be better served with F&T's. They're a little more expensive but they are the Cadillac of electrolytics.

Don't neglect the bias-balance cap -- it should be replaced as well.

The bias-balance cap is on the tag board with all the diodes, inside the chassis and adjacent to the power tranny.

Well, heard from the doctor again last night and the patient is going to survive!

I did mention to him the issue with the Atoms and his are all older stock caps which he bought about 3 yrs ago when it was rumored that Sprague might discontinue them. So everything ok there.

Good news is that the reverb tank is fine. The tremelo works fine also. A bit of tic on the trem but was able to get it out. Really happy with this outcome as I was reaching the end of my budget....at least that's what my wife tells me. Most of the work is done and I'm hoping to pick up by week's end. Can't wait to hear the beast.

Then on to the tolex and replacement of a few bright bits. I can see how this vintage amp thing can be a sickness. I'm already thinking about selling off some other guitars and amps to fund the next one. 8)
