Beemer...congrats, that is one clean and sweet looking amp and it matches your Tele! Ampeg is one amp I have never played, have had a couple bass players that played em, it appears you dig the tone!

Beem thanks for the tube rec's. I'll keep an eye out.

What sort of screwdriver do you use to get this thing open? Never seen these screws before.

It's a special fastener, used only by Ampeg AFAIK. The tool you need is available from the vintage Ampeg site -- "fliptops.com" or something to that effect. They have all sorts of Ampeg and Ampeg-related stuff for sale.

Use can use a proper sized flat screwdriver to remove the bolts. Just be very careful, not to booger-up the head. You can add a touch of oil to help a seized screw.

I've been using this technique for all those vintage Ampegs. No problems
