Got the pink based GE STR-7591A and Weber 12F150 finally broken-in. Art, you should try your Rik 360 12-string through this puppy! Shimmer and vibrato to die for. My Tele just doesn't do it justice. Try the LPS, tonight.

Vey nice amp .

If I may make a suggestion, it would replace the gray connector Marrette style for a one piece wire. This kind of connector does not will resist the shock of handling an amp.

But you know and surely it is only a temporary connection.

Can't disagree with that, Louis. But Beemer knows his way around these amps. I've used these as an insulator in my reverb unit(only one). But yeah, it doesn't get much road use. Art

Stratele, I never use a "twist bug," except for electrical wire work on the house. But, THAT bug was applied by:

OK, so is the joint soldered ? Heat shrink, around a splice, is an alternative. If the wires on both sides are tied(secured) and a squirt of silicone is used, that wire nut isn't that bad. Although one piece of wire would have been my choice. But, Oh Well!!! Art.....Really dig that amp!!!

Oliver Sound !

What kind of shop it is to ship an amp like that ??????

Even if the two wire ends are welded there is a risk that if the connector Marr defeated the wire produces a short circuit in the amp.

Hey guys. I'm looking at one of these this week. Beemer, what do you think of your Jet?

Can anyone explain the 7591A tubes? Can they be equated to 6V6's or 6L6's? Do they break up easily or stay clean and have a harsh break up?

S3, from my limited experience with these guys, the 7591 stays clean longer than 6V6 tubes. Rumor has it that Jim Hall changed over to the 7591, after complaints of early break-up with the 6V6s. I'd have to say that their character is closer to a 6L6, than a 6V6. As far as break-up in the Gemini, Jet, and Rockets; I've never heard a harsh note sound. Rowdy, yeah! In- your- face, yeah! Art

+1

I owned a '66 G15 Gemini II for a time -- nothing harsh or brittle about the 7591's (just that good NOS replacements are as rare as hen's teeth).

Thanks for the info guys! Yeah, the usual places I look for NOS tubes don't seem to stock any of these.

I'm going to check out the amp this afternoon.

IME, the best 7591A (and to get on "-A" --- as their internal structure reduces instaeraction and motorboating of the early 7591) are the:

1.) Black based early 1960 to mid 1960s Westinghosue. 7591A

2.) The mid 1960-1970 GE 7591A. Esp the "pink-based" ones. These pink based GEs (like the STR series) were built to a much tigher spec standard, than their black based models.

Though a good set of GE black based 7591A will out-shine every new "selected-matched-&-blessed" EH's.

The original 7591A is considered one of the best mid-priced output tubes ever made. Respected as much as any 5881 or 6550. And the 7581A! :D
