Been thinking about this myself. I did enough Heathkits back in the day. Anybody remember them? And rebuilt enough military gear out in the field. My only problem is the only test equipment I have any longer is a pair of digital multimeters. Which, will work, but....

A DVM was all I needed to troubleshoot my Weber 5F6A kit when I was popping fuses. The Weber kits only come with a schematic and wiring diagram. Don't know about the MOJO (?) kits. If you can read those, you can build a kit.

Yeah, I think the webers don't have a numbered step by step guide sheet. Big deal. Even with the Mojotone and old Heathkits, pay attention to what you are doing, triple check everything, and if your eyes are tired, go to bed and pick it up again tomorrow. The Webers do have good Layout diagrams from what I can see.

So, what was causing the fuse to blow in your Weber kit?

My goal at a very young age was to build the Color TV kit they had!
Though my uncle did build one and I found out a few years ago, my former boss also built one.

If you can build a Heathkit you can build a guitar amp. 8)

Bill,
That would do it. Hence the comment about triple checking everything.

I did build a receiver that lasted forever. Had that weird string inside so that the tuning dial would turn the ..... crap, inductor? Tuning capacitor.

I needed an eight-track that didn't have amp and everything built in,, Heathkit was the only one that had such an animal so I had to build that.

Wish that I had built some of their test equipment.
