During practice today the Showman was too much; I set my Princeton Reverb on top of it to get some height and it was fine.

Just for fun, I plugged the Showman 2x12 extension cab (loaded with 2 Warehouse Speakers G12Cs into the external speaker output of the Princeton Reverb.

WOW.

Even at low volumes, the sound is unbelievable.

I may have to gig with the Princeton Reverb and the 2x12 after that!

Way cool, Nedo!!! Think Arjay has a similar set-up. With the internal 8ohm and the 4ohm Showman, looks like a 5.32ohm load. Art....oopps, late post.

Of course Arjay - I temporarily forgot after being intoxicated by the sound... I may have to look for a SF Princeton Reverb to turn into a head cab like yours!

Art - my Showman is an 8 ohm, so it's 8 ohms all the way around.

The Princeton Reverb chassis will require a slightly taller head cab to provide the necessary room for the reverb tank -- about one inch extra. Mojotone offers such enclosures.

And the speaker load for a Princeton (or Princeton Reverb) should remain at 8 ohms so you're good to go there. I used a pair of 16-ohm JBL K120's in my cab.

I never fail to get a few "WTF IS THAT?" looks whenever I take it to some event. The last time, she was pitted against a handwired AC30TB and a Fender Prosonic 1 x 12 combo.

Paraphrasing Commander Bond, "Little Nellie acquitted herself quite well."

With careful cab design and speaker selection it's possible to "trick" a relatively low-powered amp into thinking it's got more grunt than the specs say it's supposed to have.

I've always enjoyed playing "Houdini".

The PR is a 15W amp, right Arjay?

So there's hope to do the same with a DRRI.

Twelve watts, actually (although for a couple of years late in the blackface era, the PR was touted as having an output of 15 watts and so marked on the rear-panel speaker jack).

The DR and DRRI both respond in similarly-favorable fashion when the standard speaker complement is ditched for an alternate arrangement. My two Spankmasters (each with a 15-inch JBL) are easily a match for a 2 x 12 40-watt combo such as a Bluesbreaker, AC30, or a Bandmaster VM in terms of volume. And I've built a couple of 2 x 10 DRRI conversions for my clients. With a pair of vintage C10Q's or Emi Copperheads they roar like a 35-watt Vibrolux Reverb.

Slightly off topic, but the Champion 600 plugged into a VT15 Bassman cabinet is friggin' awesome!
