After searching for a new amp, I have been really doing a lot of research, asking questions, sending emails, making phone calls, shopping CL, and all that. I opened my search to the Orlando area(I'm on the west coast of Fl, about 2 hours from there) I came across a deal I could not pass up, so after 6 1/2 hours, and roughly 250 mile round trip, here are the fruits of my labor. They sound fantastic, will spend the next few days cleaning up, and going over everything with a fine tooth comb, but so far I'm very pleased with the purchase!

AL...Nice pair, that Bassman looks fantastic. How about a couple of "After" pics once you get em cleaned up and gone over?

I have found a couple products that work great for getting the gunk off amps...take the grill cloth panel off and spray it with 409, cuts through stuff pretty good. 409 works good on the tolex too, and a soft toothbrush works good at getting into the tolex nooks and crannies! 409 with a toothbrush works great on the knobs to, just go slow so you don't take off the paint on the numbers.

If there is any rust, try Krud Kutter it works great if you can pull the parts off and let em soak for a bit.

thanks T2 I'll give it a try. Yes Bassman is in better cosmetic shape than the bandmaster, but the both have amazing tone. will bring them to work, so I can go over everything, and clean up real good, I will post after pics.

Not recommended.

I soak stubbornly-stained-and-crudded-up knobs in warm water with a little liquid dishwashing detergent. After thirty minutes or so, most of the accummulated crap on the skirt wipes off easily (cautious buffing with a Q-tip can help). I use wooden toothpicks to scrape out unsightly "mojo" from the splines of the barrel, then scour them lightly with an old toothbrush. The paint used for the numbers is an acrylic but can be damaged or removed by many solvents due to the age of the pigment and/or the strength of the solution used. Water and water-soluable soap is still the safest bet. Allow to dry thoroughly before re-installing, of course.

Probably. But I prefer Windex and distilled water.

Every amp you see in my signature here came from craigs list, I will also say every one of them needed a little help when I got them home and so having this forum and the knowledgable guys on it have saved me a ton of $$$

One thing so far about the bandmaster is the vibrato doesn't work, no biggie so far, as I probably wouldn't use it(thats what my univibe is for) Haven't really started to dig in yet, hoping it's the tube, and not the opto.
. Looking like a busy night here at the plant, so may not get very far, might have to earn tonights pay!
