The Deluxe is a 6v6 Tubed amp, The Vibroverb is 6L6, so they are fairly similar, but each have their own flavor. The Deluxe will tend to break up at a MUCH lower level then the Vibroverb (I own both), because the Vibroverb has a LOT more head room. The real question is what are you using them for? If you play out in larger venues, then I'd lean towards the Vibroverb, it's my all time favorite Fender amp. That big 15" speaker is wonderful. Great big sound on the bass strings, and nice and responsive on the high strings too. But it's LOUD. I mean really, really, really loud. You can't play it at home and get reasonable tone from it at lower volumes. It doesn't even start to come alive until it's past 3, and that is still really loud.

The Deluxe is a great amp for Fender tones at more reasonable volumes. You can gig with them in small clubs and crank them up into their sweet spot without the club owners kicking you out of the room, in fact they might invite you back! But if you have the space to play a Vibroverb, nothing beats it when it's turned up.

Hope this helps, more then a year after you posted your question!

The big difference is the clean headroom in terms of use. They are both great amps. I have a 63 Vibroverb (210 version). It doesn't break up until it's very very loud, whereas the DR will break up at more usable gig (think small club) volumes.

The reverb on the Deluxe is better for surf.

They are and were two entirely different animals, and invite no comparisons now as re-issues or back in 63 and 64 . Why would one possibly pick those two amps to compare? That's the greater question.
