Mercifully brief, if you ask me.

I musta missed the bus.

I can't imagine dissing the Twin Reverb. It does exactly what it's supposed to do. No?

Guess the OP changed his mind as the post has been deleted.

I removed the post as I think I went over the top. My point was that a lot of folks have dissed the beloved twin by saying things like "it's too heavy" or "it's too loud", etc. I just wrote a little response to that.

Well the fact of the matter is, a Twin is loud. It's also mighty heavy. But as long as folks who think they might want/need one are cognizant of these facts and are prepared to cope with them, they'll have no problems. I've owned half a dozen TR's over the years (45 of them to be exact) and I currently have two. Each of them with the added burden of 23 lbs worth of genuine JBL alnico magnets.

Are they loud? You betcha!

Are they heavy? Dittos!

But nothing -- and I mean NO THING on this planet -- sounds like them.

Arjay makes a great point...it is only a problem if you don't like the volume and can't abide by it's weight...but it ain't like the SR is a lightweight at 86lbs!

All amps have great things about em and things that are not so great...but NO BODY on the planet put out a complete line of professional amps like Fender did! So whenever you run across one, enjoy it for everything its worth and everything that it is...loud, heavy, AND ALWAYS TONEFUL! Can I get an Amen brothers?

I guess the issue for me was how rapidly some people dismiss the twin knowing that's it's gonna be heavy and loud, and saying that deluxes and such are better for small room gigs. I totally disagree. I can't get my type of "fat" out of a smaller amp to my 40-years-playing ears. Anyway, I guess it's a moot point really. WFYB.

For the naysayers that say a Twin Reverb is too heavy:

http://www.homedepot.com/h_d1/N-5yc1v/R ... ogId=10053

I can roll into a gig with my Dual Showman, Bandmaster Combo and our bass player's Ampeg combo in 1 trip. or carry 5 powered monitors at once.

As for volume, they are loud, but sound great for that Fender clean. As long as the volume level is appropriate for the venue, it's a great tool. Like a Marshall Plexi Stack, it's a great amplifier, but in a fool's hands can quickly become a lightning rod for pitchfork-wielding mobs.

The TR (I have a TRRI with JBL's) is a great amp. So is the SR. Each has their own unique tone. Both have casters. :D

I've always found that the amp casters Fender and other amp companies put on their amps are not useful - the diameter of the wheels is so small that the amp can tip over trying to cross a 1/4" cable. I'd rather use moving dollies with the big 4" urethane wheels that can roll over cables, asphalt, etc.

If you've had good luck with your casters, that's great; it's why I have 3 furniture dollies and the big convertible dolly with balloon tires. Best $80 on band gear I may have spent; my back is asking why I didn't buy one 25 years ago...

Is the OP talking "Twin" or "Twin Reverb"?
