It's easy to make a layout more & more complicated. It's difficult to stick to one basic layout (through the entire lineup) and have faith in it. But, this sure makes working on them a lot easier.

What I paid is most likely way below the average for such a very nice Super Reverb
Our economy stinks here in the armpit of Indiana.
Every time the governor tries to send business this way they thumb their noses at him.
(were little Chicago here)
The rest of the state is enjoying decent times !
I belong in Texas if ya get my drift 8)

So way under 500

I really didn't want it due to the pull boost and master volume, but as Arjay poited out, ya leave the master volume pushed in and cranked and its like it does not exist.

The fella was asking around 7 for a few days and got desperate for cash and low balled it to the point i could not say no.
As it turned out I made a friend in the deal too, his wife and mine are planning a dinner and some jamm'n time for us dads.
Kinda Cool !

It does indeed have a fantastic tone to it.

I really want to chat about the Gibson GA-6 I just got and did a filter cap job on, but.....

I'm agreeing with everybody here that says once you go with a Super you'll never go back. I got this '73 Super Reverb about a month ago. I had always been told that the 70's SF amps were no good. I really like 6L6 amps as opposed to the 6V6 ones. Love the Bassman and also love those old Boogie Mk. III's. Recently a trusted friend said I should check out some early SF amps if they came up for sale because they had great tone and a great price.

Image

I saw one in super clean condition listed on Craigslist, went and plugged into it, played a few notes and then didn't even argue with the guy on price. Just quietly handed him the cash. Mine is the non-master volume version. The tone is insane, it's everything I ever wanted. I don't care that it weighs a ton and I don't care that I have to play it on 2 most of the time. It sounds incredible even on 2!!! I had it up on 6 briefly and it scared the $@!& out of me. Nice to know I have the power in reserve next time I play out. This is a real amp. Not anything like the junk made these days. It's so lush, it's so...well, it's Super!

Image

Like someone else mentioned the reverb is super deep. I heard you had to crank the verb to 10 to get anything usable. Not on mine brother! Anything more than 3 and you'll get verb so wet you'll be mopping it up for days. The tremolo goes way deep too. Very musical. These things might be in the $700-$900 neighborhood now but they are worth 2-3 times more honestly. You better get while the gettin's good!

Don't know about the not going back thing.
I sold my Super reverb (for a nice profit) when i decided The Bandmaster Reverb was enough for me.

I passed on a Dual showman last night for the same reason.

I did get myself one of those little Marshall Class 5 amps the other day, kinda fun !
Like a blues jr. only better 8)

Oilsfan...welcome to the Super Reverb club! They are so fine, I had a SFSR and a BFSR at the same time and the ONLY reason I let the SFSR go, was because the BFSR was so clean! To say the reverb drips is putting it mildly, I have never played a SR that didn't have great reverb!

Here is my BFSR, SFSR, and my Bantam Bass Amp with a 65 Jensen Concert Speaker replacing that crap trapazoidal Yamaha speaker!

I made some good money on the SFSR and this past weekend I did some stereo sampling with the BFSR and Bantam...holy crap that was some fine sounding tones!

BluesBondsman...sorry for the temporary hijacking of your post, but since we were talking SR's I figured you would be OK with it
