I've put this on my watch list.

I'm sure the price will climb.

The amp is a '65.

Very clean, very nice.

What a beauty. Good luck. Ships only to US otherwise I might jump in :-)

Cheers

That's definitely and OC on the tube chart. I didn't even notice it till you told me the year.
Thanks,

Also noticed that it's an Oxford speaker. I prefer Jensen.

Neither the year or the speaker is a deal breaker but it lowers my enthusiasm.

Cheers,

Jensen-equipped Princeton Reverbs from the mid '60s are somewhat of a rarity. Most left Fullerton with the 10J4 Oxford though I have seen a meager few with the C10R. Functionally, there are negligible differences between an amp from late '64 and a '65. And many of the '65 models are fitted with pre-CBS components, especially the trannies and the pots.

I had a '66 PR with the Jensen. Traded it for two guitars. I've seriously considered kicking myself.

Save the wear and tear on your shoe -- we've all BT, DT, GTTS.

Vintage Jensens are nice to have, better than an Oxford, but I'm always thinking I'm gonna blow them when cranked up,the only two I currently have in amps are staying at fairly low volumes in the house for future recording possibilities.
Other than that I pop new speakers in and turn it up....good luck on the amp...it's a nice one!

Rebel, you know what I think makes some of those "vintage" speaker sound so good? They are well broken-in. The Weber speaker, as many others, take awhile to loosen up. I have a 1990's vintage Weber P10R (back when they used Jensen designation) in a 1966 PR and it really sounds so sweet now.

The Weber 10A125 I have in my SFSR have great bass, but not the subtlety of the OEM CTS speakers. Maybe, by 2015... :D

That's always been my contention.

Why buy an imitation when the real McCoy's are still available?

I've never heard a Weber of any type that sounded better than the vintage Jensen it was intended to emulate. Likewise, their California Series sound nothing like a D-series JBL. Some of my clients swear by Webers but they haven't made a speaker yet that would compel me personally to break out my Visa card or checkbook.

Arjay, been getting speakers from Weber way back when Ted was making them. Some say the latest generation aren't as good as the early 1990's ones. Dunno about that. But, for clients that need or want new speakers --- I usually go for Webers (unless specifically told to put in another make).

I have yet to get a complaint. Of course, half the battle is choosing the right speaker (and doping) for the amp and the owner's ears. Ceramic for some. Alnico for others. I usually go with their Vintage line. Cone style per need.

I've also used Tone Tubby's "MJ" speakers and Celestions... but that's another story.

I like Weber. And like to purchase from them, just to keep the after-market thing in the USA and hand-made. Not that my ordering from them will single-handedly keep them afloat.

Have a good one. Gonna be 125,000ºF today. Hope you have your asbestos suit nearby. :(
