If I can recall, these three sections were getting too much power
~ above the standard normal that delivers the 120v.

If the OPs house had a similar problem he would have known about it long before plugging this amp in. It has been made very clear by the OP that the problem is within the amp.

No problem Arc. BMW asked and this was addressed 20 posts ago.

Hey Ken, mebbe he's just trying to steer you into buying his "idiot rare" '63 Tremolux that was listed on Ebay at $15K, now "priced to move" at four grand, and is prolly worth around $2400 at best.

The only AC filter I've used, is the EBTECH Hum-X. It filters out voltge and current in the ground line. It basically, eliminates ground loop noise. http://www.ebtechaudio.com The only other thing I use is an isolation transformer if playing off a generator at outdoor gigs. Art

" I checked and two 100 ohm resistors going from the lamp to the bias circuit were bad. "

Mea culpa! In my haste to answer the Q, I missed this altogether. (kinda like pre-mature... er well you you get the idea).

These resistors are on your HEATER circuit. Not the bias power supply. And yes, if you have issues with the heater circuit-- you'll pop fuses. Check all the solder points on the lamp and the socket heater tangs of the tubes. They are all green wiring (Provided everything is OEM).

And the wiring itself, for breaks.

Yep Beemer, I too brushed over that point lightly. I used the word "examine". Should have been more explicit. The entire heater circuit needs to be checked thoroughly. A voltage check, continuity test, visual inspection of all wiring from the Pt to the the last pre amp socket. Any arcing will need to be addressed. Art

Thank you for all the help.. Wish I had more time to work on this project but seems that the weekends are the only time I have to really work on it. I really do enjoy this, although it gets a little frustrating it seems to be relaxing. I'm now now going through some electronics training so I can get a real grasp of what and why of these beauties. I hope you don't get too tired of my questions but you all have been a plethora of info...(Hope I spelled that one right...lol) :?

Musicman, you are totally welcome!!! For myself, I've messed with these amps for so long, I take some things for granted.(my bad) When you get a chance, check all the heater wire insulation and solder joints. Look for any signs(& smell) of any burning. Good Luck and Have Fun!!! Art

OK, got to work some on my frankenverb and I was checking resistors before I start undoing sections. I've found a 460 ohm where there should be a 2200 ohm resistor. It's in the reverb circuit for the cathode voltage if I'm reading this right. It doesn't seem to have been modded but according to either schematic, it's definitely 2200. Could this have been done at the factory?
And on another note, I have been able to scrounge some equip. for my endeavor. Got an oscilloscope, isolation transformer and a variac. Now to learn how to use them for good and not evil...lol Thanks again :)

Pick yourself up a good signal generator and you've got the makings of a pretty comprehensive amp bench.

Rawk on!

MusicMan, be sure you lift one lead of the resistor (unsolder and pull one lead) when you measure the resistance. If you measure across a resistor in the circuit, you maybe getting a false reading --- because other portions of the circuit are involved.

Uh......"yellow, violet, brown" is 470 ohms.

Sorry. When I posted the 260 I thought the band was blue but later after staring at it decided it was violet. My bad.
