Beemer, tried the Phillips 6V6's in the 2X10 bogus Bassman. Your recommendation was nothing short of outstanding!!! Went for 20ma at 465vdc plate volts, think we're looking at 9.2watt idle dissipation(check my math). It's not the volume, but the character and attitude of the amp, that dived into a very sweet spot. The 6L6 GE's were great, but now we're talkin' about a real stone soul blues amp. The '89 Strat(with Lindy Fralin vintage pups) just gets me in the Magic Sam-BB King realm, without having to fart-around. Again, thanks my friend!!! Way Cool!!! Art

Art, Glad you liked it. At one time, I plugged some Raytheon 6V6GTY's into a Bandmaster, re-biased, and ripped a little MC5 w/o blowing the walls out. OD on these little bottles are really hard to duplicate with stomp boxes.

Enjoy!

Bogus Bassman!!!
I like it. But, maybe a better name might make it play better.
Did you put 2x10's or 2x12's into it? What brand?
How much does Bogus weigh?

I am strongly considering my first amp build to be a "Psuedo Vibrosonic"
It will start out with a newly built 85w Fender Twin Reverb chassis.
Then, find a fitting 1x15 cabinet.
Then, find the right JBL (or the like) speaker. Should do it.
Take care. Toppscore 8)

Topp, bogus is a pretty good discription for the amp, given all the changes I made to the circuits. Play better? It plays great!!! Two 10F-1050-T(light dope) Weber ceramics. Weight? Without a scale, I'd guess about 50lb. Art

Per the OP's thread, I am into keeping all the tubes in place.
Getting and using an attenuator.

I purchased the Weber Mass 200 which will vary impedence
automatically per reisistance of each amp = automatic settings.

Mine has the headphone jack which allows me to play
the amp head without any speakers hooked up . . . .
but, not all out diming a 130-135 watt amp, for sure.

Hi, Art. I use it more frequently with the headphone jack
to play my amps that are "not home friendly".
And, I have turned down my Cyber Twin, FM-100H, Showman Reverb & Twin Reverb
for much lower speaker output during the afternoon. Highly recommended.
Of course, anything put in between your pickups and the speaker's voice coil,
will of course, provide a slight change of tone. No big deal.

Art. Do you have an attenuator? Toppscore
