What’s a good price on a 73 Twin Reverb with original speakers and in fairly good shape? Has the orange label speaker in it, whatever that means????
Thanks

$675, tops.

The orange-labeled speakers were made by Utah -- singularly unremarkable in tone and timbre. Look for an EIA ink-stamped code on the frame or magnet that reads "328-73XX".

Factory-installed and Fender-marked JBL D120Fs. A definite upgrade from the stock Oxford or Utah "pie plates".

Add $200 to the value of the amp.

That's a nice looking amp.

The only thing I can add is the SF Twins seem to sell well below their "guide" value - at least locally. I've seen them being offered between $400-$600 on Dayton (Ohio) CL. The price always starts at $800, then it keeps dropping. Listening to others who have owned these amps.... their weight, wattage, and the difficulty in getting them to overdrive makes them somewhat less desirable. Hence, their price seem to be pretty much in flux. SO..... you should feel free to haggle on the price with the seller. Or if you are the seller..... realize that you might need to be flexible in your negotiations. :D

Good luck.

Thanks everyone,
I think the speakers have been re-coned and I’ve heard that it there not done right they are not worth anything and sound terrible????? I know they were done by a local amp repair guy, whether he used the proper cone kit or not I don’t know???? Looks like the kit is about $175 for each speaker!!!!! I'm going at lunch to check it out!!!!!

I don't want break-up as i'm using a Mojo Hand FX Rook and i need a CLEAN amp for the sound I'm looking for:-)

Thanks for the great help here as always, I looked on line and most on the JBLs that I see have orange baskets/frames, would these be older original JBLs with the gray/ metal baskets….???

Yes, the gray frames pre-date those orange-and-black versions. The latter seem to have been introduced circa 1970-71. There were no technical differences between these speakers -- only the cosmetics were changed at FMI's insistence.
