I like driving old cars (on occasion), as well.
I like air-conditioning, power windows,
surround sound, GPS, remote keyless entry,
warm seats, good breaks, power to spare, as well.

Gotta tell you, emotion is cool. Lot of money in emotion.
I love the sound of Slash's guitar/amp in "Sweet Child of Mine".
I dig John Fogerty's lead guitar solo on, "Up Around The Bend".
Get real excited over The Who's keyboard play on, "Won't Get Fooled Again".
Love John Cougar Mellencamp's guitar riffs in, "The Authority Song".

Tabby Tabby Tabby ~ take it easy.
I've not had an amp made since 1985 fail. What can I say?

If modern amps all failed like your manners and charm,
Fender would be out of business.
Boutiques would take over the world.
And, you would be a nice person

***Also, Tabby, work on your reading comprehension and retention skill set.
I wrote whatever you read and I do not get that “that modern amps do not fail”.

Plus, who wants to go to a complaining section, anyway.
Is the “complaining section” where you get your fill of “$@!&”.
Although complainers & whiners are always loudest, is that the sign of a successful forum?
Are you influenced by complainers?

Tabby, move on? Why do you participate?
There are hundreds of links and threads that will make you happy.
I am not that guy. I am not there for you.
I am here for those who have thought and enjoy sharing opinion
without complaining. Go to that complaining forum thread, please.

Life is short and no time is a good time to start an argument.
Won't get one from me. Sorry. I am a happy man.
Owner of both vintage and modern amps.
Enjoy modern 2012 Rock Pop Top40 HipHop Rap Soul & R&B :D
Wanna learn to scratch out some Eminem vs Snoop Dogg.
Also, Albert King, Albert Collins, Little Jimmy King, Freddie King,
Otis Rush, BB King, Taj Mahal, Ry Cooder, Ben E King, Earl King,
Eddie King and Little Freddie King are some of my favorite performers.
No complaints here.

Tabby, which are you, anyway? A 1 or 2 or 3 as discussed earlier. Take care.

The beauty of the "old amps" is, you can still buy a power tranny for a 1951 5C1 Champ.

Try finding a Panasonic "bucket brigade" effects module for a '97 Princeton Ultimate Chorus.

" OK. Share your VINTAGE PRE 1985 AMPS that you love to play and gig with. "

Topp, I don't get it. You are the one that posted this new thread. Then, you tell us that there's as many good new amps as old. And that I don't play my Model 26 and Champion 600 for fear of them breaking down. This isn't altogether true. I haven't played the Model 26 a lot. But, the 1948 Champion gets played every week. At "12."

This is a Vintage amp section. Maybe, post your ideas of new amps in the Modern Amp section? BTW... I have 5150 and Matchless amps which I use, also. But, what the point of discussing their merits in a Vintage Fender Amp section?

Look, you have the right to take whatever is posted on this board with a grain of salt. I'd imagine everyone should. We are all humans, and often overstate our joy with "vintage" amps--- whatever they may be. Isn't that the point of this Vintage Amp section? To keep the lamp lit? And correct each other's ideas of right-&-wrong, with an open mind?

Thanks to all who insisted on the facebook type of "anything goes" posting for this section forum, you are getting exactly what you asked for (this sucks!). Can't have it both ways. And feeding the trolls is also a huge help too, thanks a lot.

At least the OP is on topic, this is a "Vintage Guitar Amplifiers (anything before 1985)" forum, and this topic, which is in the right place, sure beats the ones that don't have any thing to do with this section.

There is definitely a skewed bias for the vintage gear here. Some believe that the old gear was somehow magical and impervious, and can not be matched with modern gear. Poppycock! Modern clones can, in many cases, be better than the old stuff, especially new production transformers that can be, and often are, made better than the old.

"My gal is red-hot.....you're gal ain't diddly squat" Anyone know who sang that?

Tbaz
I own 13+ vintage amps and 10+ modern amps.
No complaint on my end.
This thread is about the people who own vintage and modern amps.
Not the amps themselves.

There now. That should help clear it up.

The OP chatted to you personally and shared that the thread is not about the amps.
Again, it is about the claims vintage amp owners make about their amps.
If anything, most vintage amp owners say great things about their amps, right?

and 60% of my collection is vintage.
Love those vintage amps. I really do.

Now, Tbazzonem anything else I can help you with?

Try buying a power tranny for a 1950s Tweed Bassman or Twin.

Topp, I've redone several Tweeds. This is a good source, along with Magnequest & Mercury Mags.

And that is part of the point for comparisons of vintage and modern. Can't compare a rare vintage amp to a modern one that has a bunch of gizmos on it, each made in a different country. How about a '60's BFDR compared to the reissue? At least a closer comparison.
