Looking at a silverface Deluxe to purchase , before buying it I will like to date it ,cant seem to find a definition for a chassis number . The unit does not have the pull push option, the chassis number is on the outside, it reads A736372 and the only number on the tube chart is 010385 . Any help will be appreciated.

Thanks for the reply, good info there. This amp does not have the push pull option that was implemented in 1974, odd that the the number matches with the bandmaster 1974 serial
in that chart.

Dating the silverface Fenders is frequently problematic due to sporadic records and overlapping eras. Never trust a tube chart and only rely on the serial by noting and comparing it with other visual clues and the EIA codes found on pots, transformers, speakers, and (periodically) electrolytic caps. Unlike the earlier blackface models, the use of ink-stamped assembly dates inside of the chassis seems to have been abandoned sometime after 1971.

Thanks , the unit is in good shape, and sounded really good for a clean jazz tone, it really surprised me, it has a low hum even with the volume off, the owner told me it has never been serviced. Will purchase and recap, thanks again!!

When you change out those electrolytics under the doghouse be sure to inspect all of the voltage-divider resistors on the power rail. Those can also cause big problems if their values have drifted.

Yes. If you get a chance to pull out the chassis tray, usually there is a black ink stamp
that will indicate the date of wiring, whis is usually the best of all date marks.
As you know, all are many date code "indicators" which are usually in the ball park,
but we've all been surprised. Getting all date code indicators to make a list will
really help to nail down the Deluxe Reverb's birthdate.

Then, you get to discover all of the other components that may have been switched
or upgraded or repaired or swapped out or uncovering a sneaky owners hard to
verify replacements  :D    8)

Take care. Have fun with your new amp. Toppscore 8)

I like good visual.
Caps & resistors can always be replaced.
Speakers are easy to get.
Just check the choke and transformers, they're
your most expensive parts and tough to replace.
