How is it you need "special tuning?" It just has extra frets. But, still has the same standard 6-string layout. Unless you are going to do a lot of slide work or something like that. Of course, you wouldn't need extra frets for that.

Thanks!

Maybe it Magical

Problem solved! You can get lessons in person or .... over the phone. I bet that guitar sounds great when transmitted over the 3.5 KHz bandwidth of a telephone line. And no, it doesn't matter if you have copper or fiber. Its still 3.5 KHZ.

And don't forget to buy the tuner:

BMW. It could be just that simple as similar fretwork & chord structure. I suspect not.
It could be that the notes replace bending the strings, but I suspect there is much more to it.

From what I've read online, there are some formulas to create:
sounds tones chords patterns riffs
that are not known or cannot be accomplished on the normal 13 note guitar.

Check out the following link(s):
http://www.h-pi.com/eop-guitars.html

http://www.microtonalguitar.com/

http://www.microtonalguitar.com/

Anyway, this is not old-skool stuff.
This is not necessarily blues and roots music, but I want it to be.

This is definitely "out-side-the-box" thinking and a new adventure for $425,
when the necks alone are $500-$1200.

Just thought I'd share what's out there and what's part of my life.

Also, imagine the guitar skills improvement one can get from mastering the fretwork

Take care. Toppscore 8)

You are right, Bluesky. Freenote is the source (of one microtonal guitar mfg/products)
and I've had a few emails with the owner. My last one,"were can I get the manual"
I'm sure he is busy and I've discovered some other microtonal sites.

I bought one of the Freenote guitars via EBay. It has Freenote's special:
"FreeNote 12-Tone Ultra Plus Microtonal Guitar "Neck" on Samick Greg Bennett Strat Body.
Anybody heard of Samick Greg Bennett guitar builder :?: :?: :?:
http://gregbennettguitars.com/

I believe this is a $1300 guitar, new retail.
Looking forward to the adventure.
Take care. Toppscore :)

Actually, Rebel, do not hold your breath.
This microtonal guitar is a project. I want to start fresh
with proper learning materials. Don't want to treat it
as a regular 21-22 fret guitar, as there'd be no reason to
have it at all. Hoping I can expand my learning of scales
and structures. Maybe it'll help. Sure beats just reading
about alternative music and the microtonal concepts.
. . . . . like the guitar is a school course admission fee.
It can be resold ~ hope not.

***It arrived today! Happy opening tomorrow

Cool. An NGD photo of it would be cool too.

I only have the one vintage amp which is the DSR on the upper left and my brother has my crate bass amp but I took a few minutes and got the family together. I even got my digeridoo in the shot too.

Nice looking family & youngsters, Ark!

What year is your Dual Showman with the drip-edge trim? 1967-1969?
Is it the TFL5000D?

I have to redo my 1968 Dual Showman Reveb's grill cloth and drip-edge trim.
I have purchased the four corner pieces, the four trim sides cut to length,
and I purchased a sheet of 1968/ish grill cloth to arrive next week.
Also, I have another grill cloth to check out that is supposed to be 1968/ish.
Had to return to sender a grill cloth that was not accurately depicted.

I have a question for you and or anybody familar wiht the Dual Showman Reverbs.
I know and understand heat is a problem. I received my Showman Reverb with
the following below "short back-side" panel. I contacted Mojotone and they will make
me a full size panel. I will probably do it, soon. But, the question is, that maybe
someone smartly wisely removed the full back-side panel and installed the short one
for a big improvement of cooler air flow and heat dissipation.
What do you think or know or have experienced?

   By the way, another of many "home pictured amps"

Mine is a '69.

If you recall my amp from my first thread here you will see the back on mine is full but would likely run much cooler with a short back like on your amp.

See here.

Heat rises, Rob. Barring forced-air convection (ie: a fan), your amp will run no cooler regardless of whether you have the original rear panel or a short one like what's used for a Twin Reverb or even if you dispense with it altogether.

Maybe I can make a grilled cheese in there. For some reason I get hungry when I play.
