Much better than I expected!

As mentioned, I can see the orange drop caps so it must have work done on it in the not too distant past.

I would definitely spend some $ on this! But again, if you don't want to and you live close to Massachusetts ....

Professor Arjay..what do the date codes on the xfmr tell us?

I am not nearly as versed as Arjay but the codes on the trannies mean 606 Schumacher

323 and 329 are the 23rd and 29th weeks of 1973.

JOC... Have any of you seen a vintage Fender amp or guitar with OEM Sprague OD's in it? I have many NOS US made Sprague Mylar 6PS and 16PS OD's. And Black Beauties--- but only seen them in other makes or TV's of that era.

Thanks!

I'm pleased to report that fellow forum member mxvin generously offered to take on the rehab of the blessed Vibrolux and that following his painstaking ministrations the patient has responded well, is resting comfortably and is expected to be released this week having made a full recovery. Thanks to all those who originally responded to this post and especially to mxvin for bringing this beloved companion back to twanging life. His diligence, determination, love for and knowledge of older Fender amps are touching and instructive and will not be forgotten.

Glad it all worked out. Its forums like this one that I have learned from and use as a resource all the time. Thanks for the opportunity Twang99. I dig working on these amps and always learn something new in the process.
Invoice to follow.....
