I think you made a wise choice.

Rawk on!

I go there quite often and have bought several amps from them, but they don't know the things we know to look for,I've talked to several customers and pointed out problems with different amps they were looking at also....the sales staff probably didn't like it either, but they know better than to say anything to me.

They do have some nice vintage gear...

I tried to explain to one of the sales guys that the amp was not a 66 and that someone changed the faceplate to make it look more like a BFDR... he said well there's nothing he can do about it. WTF?!

I pulled the trigger yesterday after talking with the sales guy again on the phone. I've been searching my area for two years looking for one of these, and haven't even had the opportunity to play one in person. Heck I can't even find one on ebay at the moment. Plus, they generally carry at least a $1200 price tag now. This was only $800, and with the 30 day return policy, it's well worth risking the price of shipping. It's also cheap enough that I feel alright about spending some to get it fixed up.

Anyway, it's scheduled to arrive next Wednesday. So I'll fill you all in, then.

Congrats on a great buy! With the right speaker and tubes this amp will sing for years and bring lots of smiles and tears :D

Indeed!

And as a "temporary steward" of some of these treasures, I always strive to preserve the vibe and restore -- when necessary -- any that's been lost to the ravages of time, tide, or some 'tard with delusions of amp-modding grandeur.
