Just got my Vintage Guitar and there was an ad for a new amp book called "Amped The Illustrated History of the World's Greatest Amplifiers " by Dave Hunter...the write up sounds good and the cover shows a mocked up BFTR with the authors name where Twin Reverb would be.

The book is a photographic history and covers 60 of the best amps ever produced, with lots of pictures to include chassis shots. Includes Fender, Marshall, Vox, etc. It also talks about the bands that used them. Sounds like a great book and only $24 on Amazon.

FWIW

I have two of his books. He's an American that has written for and worked for British outfits. He's got articles in the last Aspen Pittman's "The Tube Amp Book." I actually wanted to see when AP comes out with his next book. Borders are shut down now, that is where I use to get all my books. Amazon has great prices and, they have everything! I usually just get cds and dvds from Amazon but, I guess I'll start shopping books there also. I just miss going into stores. It would be cool to get my butt away from this laptop!

Yes it is a nice book . I look at at my guitar store but I did not buy it I have lots of amps and guitars 's book.
I read a page on Wem Dominator amp in this book , a not very well know amp. I found one in garbage last fall . Not working but I fix it . I discover the sound of this amp , a kind of Vos AC 30 . Great amp.

Well I think, maybe I will ordered the book....Thank T2Stratman

I received a copy of it for my birthday from my wife (amazing how she always seems to know what I want  ). It has a lot of great photos and the writing is easy to read and quite enjoyable. However, they really should have found a better editor as there are quite a few typos and incorrect references in the text to the photos and other things. There were even some technical errors in the amp descriptions. Don't look for a lot of technical detail on the amps. Just enjoy it for the many different and sometimes unusal amps covered. Bottom line, I liked the book.

BlueSky...you had the book and were holding out on us? Foreshame...JK, glad you liked it, I am looking forward to getting it! Sounds like the Mrs. is a certain keeper if she is getting you stuff like this!

It is a pictorial book, sound I guess maybe I wasn't that worried about the technical stuff, but thought it was great they included some of the more rare shots and of course the inards...you know how we all like amp porn!

"How to Hot Rod your Fender Amp" is a great book too! Forgot to mention that one.

Covers p2p and pcb models.

Have you tried any of the mods in that one blues bondsman?

My favorite part about the hot rod book is the resistor chart, its easy to read.

I don't care for modding, i try to repair and restore more than mod.
Now don't get me wrong there is a place for mods, just not in any of Leo's original designs.

Change for the sake of change is dangerous at best and foolish most of the time.
I do like to swap speakers and tubes for slight tone changes !

I totally agree! Your reasoning appears to make great sense.
