Photo to show the difference between the GE made 7581A (STR-415) and the RCA black plate 6L6GC. Note the square getter ring on the GE's. Smaller bottle. And of course, pink/tan base. The GE are amazing tubes, if you ever get a chance to use one.

Those GE seem promising, I'd like to try some.

Spec sheets if interested.

GE 7581A

RCA 6L6GC

Big tone. Good mids, maybe a tad better tham RCA. I bias them hotter than RCA BP 6L6GC. Maybe, start at 15-20% more idle dissipation per tube.

Good hunting & luck!

I really like GE 6L6 type tubes,I've never had any of those but have used Sylvania and Philips 7581s I think they were....tough tubes capable of handling high voltage.

Thanks for the spec sheets on those tubes, Shimmy! Stored them for easy access. Do have a pair of those GE tan base, but haven't gotten around to trying them. Should try them in the Bassman. Built that amp to be a more mid centered guy, anyway. It's got '50 iteration GE's clear tops now. Have to get that amp back from that 16yr old kid and do the swap. Art
