Hi. I would like to know where you can purchase Tone Ring speakers cabinets?
Or who builds Tone-Ring speaker cabinets?
Are any older/used Tone-Ring speaker cabinets for sale?
Did any major speaker manufacturer besides Fender ship Tone-Ring speaker cabinets?
Pluses or minues about using or owning Tone-Ring speaker cabinets?

IMPORTANT: Can 2x10 or 2x12 or 2x15 speaker cabinets be made with Tone-Ring architecture?

Scroll down to see a Tone-Ring cabinet schematic:
http://gretschpages.com/forum/other-amp ... 676/page1/

Some cool Tone-Ring pictures:
http://www.google.com/search?q=tone+rin ... 45&bih=890

Please share your experiences of owning or using Tone-Ring speaker cabinets.
Or, please share who sells older vintage Tone-Ring speaker cabinets.
Or, Please share current custom speaker cabinet shops who do build tone-ring speaker cabinets.
Thank you. Toppscore 8)

Tone-Ring Speaker Cabinets were shipped by Fender during the early to mid 1960s within
a few piggy-back style speaker cabinets. Usually Blonde or Black tolex 1x10, 1x12 or 1x15
speaker cabinets. A concept behind Fender’s tone-ring speaker cabinets was to give
speaker cabinets more projected “natural” bass sounds. This allowed guitarists to lower their
amp's bass controls while increasing their amp's mid & treble controls without
losing the bass sounds/tones when achieving higher headroom. Real cool design.

The Tone-Ring speaker cabinets architecture allowed for no air ports except through
the unique twin baffle. The speaker is attached to the back of the tone-ring.
The tone-ring is attached to two baffles with a space between them to allow the air to port.
The tone-ring speaker worked well with "flabby" speakers because inside air pressure
kept forces against both sides of the speaker cone. Other speakers work as well in TR Cabs.

Some Tone-Ring cabinet info:

1960s Fenders with Tone-Ring Cabinets: Bassman, Bandmaster, Tremolux, Showman.

Except for the Showman tone-ring cabinets, Fender phased-out
tone-ring cabinets for the Bassman, Tremolux & Bandmasters
during 1962 in favor of 2x12 & 2x10 4 Ohm cabinets .
Showman used the 1x15 tone ring cabinets till 1967.

Tremolux: 6G9, 6G9A (1961-1962): ported tone ring 1x10" 8 Ohms.
Some early Tremolux cabs were fitted with a 1 x 12" baffle".
Blonde Tremolux had 8 Ohm OTs and 1x12" ToneRing cabs.

1961/1962 Bassman: some 6G6 w/GZ34 rectifier had the 8 Ohm 125A5 in tone-ring cabinets.

Blonde Bandmaster used a 1x12 tone-ring cabinet in 1961 & 1962 w/8 ohm cabinets.

If you're coming here to disrespect the most respected and knowledgeable member in this forum then there's no need to offer any help.

Adios amigo!

Why didn't these last?

They were expensive to build and with a single driver only, put that speaker at risk when used with a high-power amp such as a Showman.

Arjay. What does it matter if the amp's wattage/ohm's handshakes with the speaker?
Also. The Showman had Fender's longest run of Tone-Ring cabinets from 1961-1967
in two or more configurations: 1x12, 1x15.
Not sure if Fender or anyone made or makes a tone-ring cabinet for two speakers???

So, a 100w Dual Showman Reverb amp can "Wipe Out" (Surfaris) any undermatched
speaker, but should do well with those JBLs back then. Right? or wrong :(

"Back in the day", the Showman amp was rated for 85 watts RMS.

The JBL D130F speaker was rated for 35 watts continuous program material.

You do the math.

The Showman ruined every speaker? Come on.

Do the math, einstein.

How many JBL F-series loudspeakers do you have?

I've owned over a hundred of them over the past four and a half decades and currently have about fifteen in various Fender amps, plus a pair of 4312 studio monitors. I've conversed with Harvey Gerst (the JBL design engineer solely responsible for the development of the F-series) many times via written correspondence, e-mail, and several phone conversations. There isn't anybody on this board who knows more about these loudspeakers than me. You wanna play russian roulette, be my fookin' guest. But don't come here cryin' the blues when you fry a JBL because you thought you knew it all.

Good day to you, sir.

Arjay

Well, Mr Einstein Clone:
Why buy over 100 failures and keep getting the same results???
There's a name for that kind of repetitive activity. You know it. I am sure.
You deserve all of those headaches. Learn and move on.

If I did the same "fookin" thing over and over till 100 Bottles of "fookin" Beer on the Wall
were all gone, I too would be on the phone with Harvey. I'd give him a piece of my "fookin" thoughts.

There is not anyone within this forum that has had 100 failures on one speaker.
So, Einstein Clone, that is exactly what your relative theory (hahaha ) did.
Keep on trying till failure becomes successful. I'm sure that JBL paid you well for the "beta testing".

Personally, I'll give you a very good tip. Try another brand of speaker?
Playing 100 Games of JBL Roulette is not my style. Obviously, yours.

The beauty of this forum is to learn from others.
Thanks for the tips and advice and shared experience.

I have never owned JBL's (unless there is one in my working 1x15 cabinet).
And, thanks to your share, I will avoid buying JBLs.

Think about it Einstein. The Showman ruined every speaker? Come on.
Surely, there must be some speaker cabinets that work?
Please do tell me true?
Maybe you had bad JBL blues issues.
There are many more speakers to consider.
And many more powerfully built speakers that can handle
much more powerful amps than the Showman.

Don't you at least think Showmans in the world are like Twin Reverbs in the world?
Come on. Something has to give. Right?

A very special day to you.

Hey Topp....you don't get it do ya?
Arjay ain't saying he's had a hundred speakers ruined and keeps going through the same routine.....he's saying he has owned over that many in different amps over 40 years, and btw,he really knows what he's talking about, especially when it comes to JBL's.
Man....is English your native language?

You know, Rebel. He may know a lot.
But calling people Einstein and not able to take it.
Take a nap and wake up on the other side of the bed.
Nobody's cryin.
Maybe some wanna ki$$ $@!, but cocky attitude looses respect.

So he owned 100. Good for him.
What does that mean to anybody?
And Showman's can't work with JBLs. Come on. Get reality already.
Some of these forum a$$clowns think that hangin' out with newbies
makes them kingdom come with an obnoxious azz.
Great. I am sure there are better dribbles to read.

45 years. What a joke. Einstein. Mr Helpful. Considerate. Friendly.
Calling people names. Mr Unhappy Negativity. Cannot take criticism.
Cannot take counter-point. Cannot see in the mirror. Stay away.

There is more joy on this forum than reading his insulting negative condescending
narcissistic babble. How great is he? He will tell you. He is the only one on the board
that got paid money for making noise last year! WOW!!!
Ask him. Excuse me. Read it.

Bye Bye
