I think I understand the question. A round over bit in a router will cut the wood to look like what you have on the top edges for the sides and back (90 degrees) but the top front is a different story. You have an angle that you must have done something different to get that round over. Either you used a different bit on top front which isn't a 90 degree round over or you used some other method no?

I *think* I understand the question (finally).

You're referring to the radius at the edges. I do not own a router. I rough my radiuses in with a powered palm sander, then do the final shaping by hand with a sanding block and a set of templates I fabricated for that very purpose. The front edge of the top panel is pre-cut with a 25-degree bevel to match the break angle of the side panel thus speeding the fitting and finishing process along.

Sorry for my misinterpretation.

Arjay

Not a problem. It's actually a hard question to articulate. Good job on the box.

Wow, Arjay you rounded all those edges without a router? It looks really good, impressive!

Pine is pretty soft timber, Hollis. It sands easily and the power palm sander speeds the process significantly. I can shape a combo-type cab in a couple of hours.

Well, I botched the job cutting out the speaker cutouts on the baffle board. Luckily I undercut them, thinking I would probably go with rear loaded speakers. So, that leaves some room for me to draw new lines and re-cut. At work today I cut out an 11" diameter round circle to accurately and easily draw the circles. I also cut out a ring-shaped router template. It was so easy to fix those holes it was like cheating!
Here is a couple of pics of two of the lasers we have. We have four total. They can cut any type and any thickness steel up to 1" thick, and cut it as smooth as if the edges have been polished. They can also etch and can even cut the plastic of off stainless steel without marking the metal.
This one is cutting a sheet of 1/4" cold rolled steel(a bunch of smaller parts):
Image

This one has plexiglass doors. It is cutting 3/8" thick headers that we will bend in a brake press:

Image

Here is the two templates. They are cut from 16 guage(1.6mm) cold-rolled steel.

You can see here what a bad job I did on the first cut. I drew a new pencil line using that circle.

Image

Rout out that junk

Much better!

Done!

Trust me, I've given it plenty of thought.

And as it now happens, I have a spare orange-basket JBL D130F......

(thanks, cedarblues!)

......And a pair of vintage "PATENT PENDING" tilt-back legs for a Showman enclosure.

Tone ring? I am unfamiliar. What is that? Will it make me sound like SRV?

Your few tools can do a better job than most folk's big fancy ones

Thanks for the kind words, Hollis.

You're very gracious, sir.

Tone-Ring Speaker Cabinets were shipped by Fender during the early to mid 1960s with in a few piggy-back style speaker cabinets. Usually Blonde or Black tolex 1x10, 1x12 or 1x15 cabinets. A concept behind Fender’s tone-ring speaker cabinets was to give speaker cabinets more projected “natural” bass sounds. This allowed guitarists to lower their amp's bass controls while increasing their amp's mid & treble controls without losing the bass sounds/tones when achieving higher headroom. Real cool design.

The Tone-Ring speaker cabinets architecture allowed for no air ports except through
the unique twin baffle. The speaker is attached to the back of the tone-ring.
The tone-ring is attached to two baffles with a space between them to allow the air to port.
The tone-ring speaker worked well with "flabby" speakers because the
inside air pressure kept forces against both sides of the speaker cone.
Other speakers work as well.

Some of my notes from Tone-Ring cabinet info:
1960s Fenders with Tone-Ring Cabinets: Bassman, Bandmaster, Tremolux, Showman.

Except for the Showman tone-ring cabinets, Fender phased-out
tone-ring cabinets for the Bassman, Tremolux & Bandmasters
during 1962 in favor of 2x12 & 2x10 4 Ohm cabinets .
Showman used the 1x15 tone ring cabinets till 1967.

Tremolux: 6G9, 6G9A (1961-1962): ported tone ring 1x10" 8 Ohms.
Some early Tremolux cabs were fitted with a 1 x 12" baffle".
Blonde Tremolux had 8 Ohm OTs and 1x12" ToneRing cabs.

1961/1962 Bassman: some 6G6 w/GZ34 rectifier had the 8 Ohm 125A5 in tone-ring cabinets.

Blonde Bandmaster used a 1x12 tone-ring cabinet in 1961 & 1962 w/8 ohm cabinets.

Blonde Showman 1x12 ported tone-ring cabinet = 21" x 30" x 11.5"
Blonde Showman 1x15 ported tone-ring cabinet = 24.5" x 36" x 11.5"
Blonde Double Showman 2x15 sealed cabinet = 24.5" x 36" x 11.5" (not sure if tone-ring used)

Thanks Toppscore, that was informative and insightful. I had never heard of Tone Ring cabs before.

I have finished most of the bulk of the build. Everything is complete except the back. I still need to order the corners, rubber feet or casters, speaker mounting hardware, and the gasket material for the sealed back. I'll get some enclosed input jacks to prevent air leakage. I've decided to make the handles and jack plate from polished stainless steel. It won't be mirror finish, it's like it has a polished grain to it. This thing is gonna be heavy, so I'll put side handles and a handle on top. I'm gonna make the handles like you'd see on a 4x12 cab.

Here is after assembly:
Image

Here is after rounding the edges and corners. I used a 3/8" radius round over bit in the router to round the edges, then I went back over it with a random orbit sander to smooth the edges and corners. I refined it a bit further with a sanding block. It's not perfect, but I don't think anyone would notice, especially after the tolex/vinyl is applied.

Here is the radius gauge set I used to check the edges/corners.
