That's crazy!...no,I've seen them going for less....way less, there's not that many out there though, and if a dealer gets ahold of something that's somewhat rare, this happens.

$3900, tops.

And at that price, the sonofabitch better damn well be perfect. Original everything, to include the brown-enameled dual footswitch and brown-flannel Victoria Luggage cover.

This is what he says, no mention of foot pedal

http://photobucket.com/63fendervibroverb

This amp is fully serviced and is a player. All date codes, late '62 to early '63 on transformers, Oxford speakers, pots and reverb pan indicate time line and originality. When the amp came to us it had all new electrolytic capacitors and a few new signal caps. The vibrato was weak so we changed the .01 and .02 disk caps with original style units. The screen grid resistors on the output tubes have been changed to Allan Bradley carbon composition units. The Philips mil spec 7581A output tubes are matched to within 2 milliamps and biased at 35 & 33 ma.
The GZ34/5AR4 rectifier is a Mullard and checks like new.
The phase inverter is a balanced RCA 12AX7.
The vibrato tube is a Mullard ECC83.
The reverb return and 3rd gain stage for the Bright (reverb) channel as well as the Bright channel input are Telefunken smooth plate ECC83s.
The reverb send tube is an RCA 7025.
The Normal channel input tube is an RCA 12AX7.

This amp sounds great with no extraneous noise at all. Not wanting to stress the 49-year-old original cones on the speakers we did not play the amp to distortion. The clean tone is very defined and transparent. The reverb and vibrato work as they should. All in all there are no issues with the stability and playability of this amp

I've seen cleaner for half that asking price.

Yep...no way it's worth the asking price, and it's not all original, with the cap and resistor changes, that work needed to be done though,it's a player not a museum piece, but I would remove the speakers also and put them back if I had it....and install some new ones, those will probably blow the first time somebody pushes the amp hard,...or not,you would find out for sure, that's why they mentioned that they didn't do it.
If I was interested in something like that,a Brown Super comes really close without 'verb, add a nice reverb unit and you have a sound very close for a lot less,Supers are some of the best of that era,and can found at reasonable prices.

And the 6G4 has that to-die-for harmonic trem.

The 6G16 uses the bias-wiggle system.

Man. He has two holes in the grill cloth,
I cannot read the tube chart dating,
and there are no pictures of the amp's exterior bottom side.

I say $2800, and tickets to a Yankee - Red Sox game

Arjay. I have a 6G4 Super Amp.
Are you chatting about that with the above 6G4 statement?

Right on, Reb.

Add a 6G15 to the Super and you have a better rig than the Vibroverb (plus none of the over-hyped price or those crappy Oxford pie tins).

I hear you on the Brown Supers. I have a 1960 and had a 1962.
Beautiful. Add my 1961 Reverb Tanks, and away we go.

Did you make an offer? How did it turn out?
Did you at least try it out? Did it sell?
