Today, I got into a discussion regarding a 1966 Fender Deluxe Reverb's
four lower exterior corners and how all four corners
were worn to bare wood clean throught the worn out tolex.

I stated that the amp was missing all four chrome corner pieces.

After researching Fender Deluxe Reverbs, I noticed that no Deluxe Reverb has the
four chrome corner pieces for protection. Even the Reissues are missing. What gives?

Then, I checked all of my Brownface & Blonde amps ~ all have chrome corner pieces.
I checked all of my 1964-1967 Blackface amps ~ all have chrome corner pieces.
I checked all of my 1968 Silverface amps ~ all have chrome corner pieces.

I do not pretend to have on of all the Fender amps, so I ask any and all this question:

Which post Tweed era amps ship from Fender without the four chrome corner pieces?
The Deluxe Reverb is one?

Any other amps? Princetons? Harvards? Pros? Bandmasters?
Concerts? Showmans? Tremoluxs? Twins? Vibrasonics?
Vibrosonics? Vibroverbs? Champs? Vibroluxs? Supers? Deluxes?

Where and why is the line drawn?
Which amps do have chrome corners?
Which amps do not have chrome corners?

I will not sleep till this is settled. Thanks for your help.

The initial production runs of the brownface combos in 1960 lacked the metal corners -- this is well-documented in Tom Wheeler's book. The 6G2, 6G3, and 6G4 never had the customary Fender logo either.

Into the blackface era, none of the amps below the Vibrolux (in the Fender "pecking order") ever got the corners. As well, it wasn't until mid-65 that they finally received the metal logo on the baffle board. Early examples of the first AA864 Vibrolux Reverbs were also logo-less.

Arjay - There are times, whether its drooling over that custom Princeton head you made, being amazing at your superhuman ability to look at a photo of a chassis and immediately identify the fakes and the hack jobs, or just your sheer vast knowledge on all things Fender, that I realize that clearly........

Arjay is spot on as usual, the DR did not have the corners....those amps were not considered in the "Professional" line of Fender amps....that probably had something to do with it,like more chrome trim on the more expensive cars with the same brand name and body style, with more horsepower.... :D

I own a 1960 Fender 6G4 "JI" 2x10 Super Amp with the logo.
Does this fit into your rules of order? Toppscore 8)

They're not my rules -- they're the historical record.

So, when did the Super Amp not have logos and then have logos
according to the Fender History of Order? :D

Mine is a 6G4. I know there is a 5G4, but your comment mentioned 6G4.

Merely a typo -- disregard that reference.

That is shocking!!! Is it an MIM MIJ MIC or MIF???
Might as well put caster wheels on it and paint the grill cloth: "Haight Ashbury Delight"

The shiny feet are a dead give-away.
Fender should train USA Port of Call Import/Export Agents to check out
amp chrome corners, like they do Gucci Bags or Michael Jackson CDs
