I have personal experience with the stuff on ebay and while it doesn't have the corners if you miter it properly it looks very good. the profile of the material is almost exactly like the original. The grill cloth you can get from many dif places although the silver with "blue" or "tourquiose" is not exact. The tourquoise one looks ok if you age it. The link below shows some pics......thats the ebay edge with torquoise cloth I aged with clear tinted laquer.... http://gitarmoto.shutterfly.com/388
Thank you so much, Mxvin.
I have seen the eBay ad.
I will go and purchase from them tonight.
Also, it is good to know the Silverface drip edge can look good without the corners.
=============

I purchased the following four (4) Silverface drip-edge corners, last month:
http://www.ebay.com/itm/110846102066?ssPageName=STRK:MEWNX:IT&_trksid=p3984.m1439.l2649

What do you think? Will they do the job???
If I get the aluminum rails from the EBay supplier, hopefully I’ll have two options:
1) the aluminum rails and corners work together
2) the aluminum rails look good by themselves.

I have seen many Silverface drip edge amps without the corners and
they looked great with the aluminum rails matching at a 45 degree angle.

Does ANYONE think the ABOVE or BELOW grill cloth is installed the wrong direction?
Are the grill lines going the correct "Fender Way"??? PLMK your opinion.

The original corner pieces can be reused if you have a set and are very careful about removing them, and they fit perfectly with the new repro aluminum. Nice job BTW! 8) Arjay

Arjay or Mxvin, do you feel my four aluminum drip edge corners from a 1967 Silverface
Princeton amp will work with my 1968 Fender Showman Reverb amp's grill trim :?:
http://www.ebay.com/itm/110846102066?ssPageName=STRK:MEWNX:IT&_trksid=p3984.m1439.l2649

Also, would you or ANYONE point me to a link that will show the EXACT Fender "grill cloth"
used on 1968 Fender Dual Showman Reverb amps??? It would be greatly appreciated :D

The corner pieces from the Princeton baffle will work fine with the new aluminum extrusions.

And yes, the cloth on that DSR's valence panel is mis-oriented by ninety degrees.

Thanks, Arjay.

Can you point to a supplier of correct 1968 Fender Silverface Showman Reverb cloth?

Does anyone think it's possible to remove some of the threads to tone down the turquoise grill cloth?

never tried that??.....would seem like a lot of work and would leave gaps too...hmmm?/

I use tinted clear spray laquer to do the aging job. Tones the turquoise down big time..

The metal logo within that picture looks too far right from the right edge.
What do you think? Toppscore 8)

Regarding locating 1968 Silverface Grill Cloth for a 1968 Fender Dual Showman Reverb

Arjay. Maybe you or I are too literal here.
I see manufacturers of Fender grill cloth all over.
Just wondering, asking someone like you who knows
and have experienced working on amps . . . . .
Is there grill cloth available, either similar or nearly the same
or close enough to be put on a 1968 Fender Silverface amp
that already has the grill cloth on incorrectly?

Kind of "shiny old".

What is wrong with a new paint job?
Do you want your 1969 Ford Boss 302 Mustang to have the same paint,
tires, oil, spark plugs, seat covers, radio, oil & air filter, bearings, etc?

Just sayin'? Toppscore 8)

The current selection of turquiose/silver cloth is way to bright for my taste. In some of those pics you can see the dif. In person the grill cloth is not really shiny at all. The silver sparkle in the cloth still comes through but now the tourquiose is tamed.

No......you don't.

You see mediocre attempts at a re-issue of these cloths which use incorrect colors and a weave that is too large both horizontally and vertically by nearly 30%. It looks like raw fooking azz and I can spot it from a distance of twenty meters. Below is a nearly-to-scale comparison photo to support my contention......

Image

The top photo depicts actual Fender cloth (silver/white/metallic turquoise) from 1969. In the center, the repro cloth offered by Mojotone and others. At the bottom is original silver/black/blue cloth from 1967.

If the currently-available repro cloth looks fine to you, then it looks fine to you.

But's not -- and never will be -- an accurate representation of the real McCoy.

And it doesn't look "fine" to me.

+1....
thats why I "dumb" it down with an aging process.
