Hi. I have a 1968 Showman Reverb Silverface Drip Edge amp head that
needs drip edge trim, corners for the drip edge trim, Silverface grill cloth, etc.

Does ANYBODY know of sources that sell the Drip Edge components?
I have seen the drip edge add on EBay.

Anyone know of good Silverface grill cloth suppliers?
Are there repair or restoration shops or businesses that will do the work?

PLMK. Thank you. Toppscore

I purchased the following four (4) Silverface drip-edge corners, last month:
http://www.ebay.com/itm/110846102066?ssPageName=STRK:MEWNX:IT&_trksid=p3984.m1439.l2649

What do you think? Will they do the job???
If I get the aluminum rails from the EBay supplier, hopefully I’ll have two options:
1) the aluminum rails and corners work together
2) the aluminum rails look good by themselves.

I have seen many Silverface drip edge amps without the corners and
they looked great with the aluminum rails matching at a 45 degree angle.

Does ANYONE think the above grill cloth is installed the wrong direction?
Are the grill lines going the correct "Fender Way"??? PLMK your opinion.

I have personal experience with the stuff on ebay and while it doesn't have the corners if you miter it properly it looks very good. the profile of the material is almost exactly like the original. The grill cloth you can get from many dif places although the silver with "blue" or "tourquiose" is not exact. The tourquoise one looks ok if you age it.

The link below shows some pics......thats the ebay edge with torquoise cloth I aged with clear tinted laquer....

The original corner pieces can be reused if you have a set and are very careful about removing them, and they fit perfectly with the new repro aluminum.

Nice job BTW!

Indeed they are. I happened to have several drip-edge valence panels harvested from silverface heads as surplus.

BTW, which DR amp is that -- vintage or re-issue?

it was an ebay purchase. 1974 DR. It was very clean except it was owned by a smoker so I actually had it apart and in the garage for months to "air" out. It came with the orange threaded grill cloth as original. Which I kept with the baffle. Made a new baffle.
Blackfaced the guts, clipped the bright cap, and messed with the tone caps a bit. Has EVM12L in it now. Very strong sounding amp.....

I'll bet! The EV is a very fine speaker.

The '74 silverface was still an outstanding chassis, with PTP wiring and milspec-grade components. They really knew how to build them to last back then.

Once again, my compliments on an outstanding re-creation!

Thanks Arjay.....appreciate the props.
I bought a roll of the silver/tuquoise cloth and it looks pretty hideous unless you age it. Too bright IMO...:)

Indeed!

I used it on this Princeton piggyback conversion......

I suppose I should leave the thing in some smoky saloon for five or six years.
