Hey everyone,
This is my first post. I've been a guitar player for about 18 years.
I bought a Fender 140 about 18 years ago.
It's been sitting in my parent's basement for the past 10 years.

There's not much info about this amp online.
Does anyone have any knowledge of the desirability of this amp?
I remember it sounding pretty decent.

Here are some pictures:

sorry about that. I'd still like to know whether anyone knows anything about the desirability of this amp. I know very little about it, and there doesn't seem to be a whole lot of info online about it.

Thanks!

NV...Try this link. It has a bit of info on your amp...and the whole family of these amps (30, 75, 140). These were fine amps, not as collectable as the Tweeds, Brown Face, Black Face or early to mid 70s Silver Face amps, but nice amps in thier own right.

Awesome, thanks. I found this link through google the other day as well. Great specs on the amp - not a lot of information beyond specs though. I loved the sound when I was playing through it many years ago - and the big muff through this thing sounded amazing. It's just too big for someone that's given up the dream of playing in a band where you actually *need* a half-stack on stage :)

+1

Most of us have long since downsized to smaller, more sensible amps......

The 140, along with the companion 70 and 30, was one of the last Ed Jahn designs (he dreamed up the PS400) and it was only in production for about 15 months. Corporate stirrings within the CBS conglomerate to unload the Fender division or close it down outright limited the marketing efforts to sell this amp, despite some revolutionary (for Fender) features and the robust construction typical of the era. Dismal sales killed the 30 off rather quickly and they are now extremely rare. The 70 apparently had the most utility and remained in the product line for about two years. Your matched set may command $750 on the secondary market but you'll need the patience of Job to find a motivated buyer. "Arena rigs" are now considered an anachronism among most working professionals but they're still coveted by garage-band guitarists in flannel shirts.
