Hello I have a 1968 " Silver face drip edge" Twin Reverb amp. One of the speakers has blown and in need of repair. The speaker is a 12" Fender Musical instruments Special Design. it has the #s 105379 455-831 12T6-10 stamped on it. Can any of the members tell me wher I might be able to get this speaker repaired. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks
John

There are outfits that will "repair" speakers.

I will let others chime in as to if it is worth it for this particular model or less expensive to buy a replacement.

Weber does some of the best recones out there !
Give them a shout if you can't find a correct replacement or want it to remain 100% original.

You've made a error in copying that speaker designation stamped on the tag -- the code reads "465-831.

The speaker is an OEM Oxford, designed to Fender specs and built in the 31st week of 1968. The 12T6 was standard equipment for the Twin Reverb and Bassman only. There were a nice matched pair of these on Ebay last night for $50 each.

They're not particularly tone-worthy but you should be able to get them re-coned for about $65 a piece. To match them sonically, both drivers should be reconditioned simultaneously as a pair.

Hello Top Score
Thanks you very much for your assistance. I handed the speaker in to a local repairman who is going to recone it for me. I hope that it will be similar to the stock speaker.

Thanks Again

John

Did you get the reconed speaker back?
Try it out?
How does it sound compared to the original or other speaker?
Bright with a bite?

Hello Amateure
After sitting on the speaker for almost two weeks, he called to say that he could not track down the propper recone kit for it. So it looks like I am back to the drawing board. :(

Try Gordon the Speaker Man.
Ship it to him.
He is the best and, he is reasonably priced.
Good luck. Toppscore
