a friend of mine has a 67 princeton reverb in great condition and he asked me what it's worth. i told him i haven't a clue as I hadn't looked in the market for sometime. i know its been hardly used, in pristine condition down to the original two prong electrical cord.

Check middle part of this link for average prices versus year of production.

The mid '60s Princeton Reverb is the Cadillac of porch weasel amps.

You should definitely consider his offer......

$1500 for a clean example is a bargain.

Agreed.

While the price guides will list the blackface Princeton Reverbs at $1,600-$1,900 in excellent condition, good luck find anyone willing to sell on the low end.

Dealers seem to want closer to $2,000 and up.

These old amps are a perfect example of "supply vs. demand"...or whatever else an economics expert could call it....more people want them than good examples for sale are to be found.
The amps as they were in new condition were priced according to their position in the Fender amp lineup, meaning you paid less for a Princeton Reverb or Deluxe Reverb, than a Twin Reverb or even the Vibrolux Reverb.
Now after people have played these classics and found their weak points vs. strong points....and stage situations have changed some also,as PA systems are much more powerful now than back then well,...you can use a PR or DR or VR in a large venue if they are mic'd...and as always a small room.
You don't have to have a heavy Twin to play large rooms, you can if you love them, but most people like the lighter amps that they can crank and get the wonderful Fender tube sound....so after saying all that, people who have the most wanted amps either keep them or sell them at a high price and you pay equally as much or more for a DR as you do a TR of the same era...make sense? :?

The amp is sitting in my house for me to try out. It is not a princeton reverb, but as best I can tell it is a 1964 Princeton with the white knobs, original two prong power cord, original rca tubes, and original speaker. If I knew how to post pictures on here I would post them. It sat uncovered in a closet for many years and has some rust issues on the chrome and needs a replacement for the red jewel light. Tone wise it is a monster and it loves to eat up my Visual Sound pedals. It may not leave my house...

I don't know ... a Princeton without Reverb ... and just a general "tone" knob. I wouldn't do it.

We were really talking about a 1967 Princeton Reverb, that's the one I have :D

Cheers

David

Those Princeton No-verb amps are great. I would jump all over an early BF Princeton. Guide has them at $1,000 to $1,250.

Again - do a search at gbase.com for a Princeton. Date range 1963-1966.

Here's one like yours.
There is asking price and then there is what thinks actually sell for

I think a fair offer between private parties would be $700-$850. At least its a place for you to start negotiations. :D

+1

The 6G2 circuit doesn't do much for me either. I'd reconsider though, if the amp were a pre-64 brownface model with brown/wheatstraw cabinet cosmetics.

Some things to consider, you'll need new tubes at some point, the filter caps will need to be replaced along with some electrolytic caps on the circuit board, you'll probably wind up blowing the speaker especially since you stated about how it "loves to eat up" your Visual Sound pedals....these things will need to be done sooner or later, ask me how I know.
