No, 16 ohms x 4 in parallel yields 4 ohms.

Use one of these to simplify the issue......

You'll need these to correctly wire up the reverb tank.

reverb cables were fine, its the footswitch that has issues.

First minor trouble was this, The bias reading on the first tube was 41ma and rising
I adjusted and now both tubes are 31ma at idle and after a few minutes to become stable, perfect match !

The guy I bought it from said his dad bought it brand new, been in his family from the get go.
His three year old got to it with a sharpie ARGHHHHHH !

Sounds even nicer with the bias adjusted !

You misunderstood -- if you intend to clone this amp into a Super Reverb, the OEM reverb tank cables will be too short.

 Sorry I need big pictures sometimes !

Got it !

The sharpie came off fine with Goo-Gone
The footswitch just needed the contacts cleaned.

The guy said he didn't know if it had been used at all since the cap swap, and that was 2006 so oxidation had taken its toll.

Now, where to find a nice super reverb cab ??????

Here you go

http://www.mojotone.com/amp-parts/cabinets-vintage-blackface-style/Blackface-Super-Reverb-Style-Cabinet

Or you could go for a VV clone instead :)

http://www.mojotone.com/amp-parts/cabinets-vintage-blackface-style/Blackface-Vibroverb-Style-Cabinet

Congrats on another great find!

If the reverb cables are sold out it's cause I grabbed a couple pairs earlier today

I bought wiring harness from the same guy on ebay, does clean work... had him make me a custom 3X10 for my Victoria.

Pulled out my Mojo catalog and started dreaming of the possibilities.

For now, its plugged into my custom pair of 1X12's with two alnicos 12"8ohm speakers
one is a weber and one is something I pulled from an old hammond organ, its getting a tad bit buzzy with all i have thrown at it.

faceplate without the sharpie and no loss of Blue writting 8)

Did ya notice the TFL 5005 X on the face ???? wierd !
Some online gurus are saying its an export model, don't think so !

The front-panel "X" marking is a strange anomaly but unless there is a multi-voltage selector switch on the rear panel (displacing the normal AC convenience outlet) then I doubt it represents the designation for an export model.

BB...That is a Sweet Trip and NAD...and happy Birthday too. Getting to meet Mr. Egnater is certainly a plus!

Just an FYI a Fender Bantam Bass Cab will fit this amp too, so if ya run across one, especially one needing refurb (most do to get rid of that yamaha speaker anyway).

Also if you want to clean the rust of those chassis straps, Krud Kutter Rust Remover (available at Lowes) works fantastic cleaning the nickel and chrome stuff up real nice.

Enjoy the amp.

From the pics, the PT seems to be the standard trans. Maybe the faceplate is the export. Art

Thats what I'm saying no voltage switch and an American recepticle on the back.

Now for a little concern I have, the bass is pretty flabby and break up is way early, Its breaking up way sooner than say a Deluxe Reverb would, Still has the "Valve Art" 6l6's and a very old looking RCA 12AX7 in the first stage for the tremolo side.

The overdrive sounds like a can of bees, not pretty

suggestions on where to start looking ?

Thanks for that info T2

I know you guys are thinking, dude you have done that been there just follow the chain of command and eliminate possibilities.

It helps my train of thought when you guys throw your ideas and personal experiences at me & this is my first Bandmaster.

I found one big source of the extra noise, as soon as i unplugged the footswitch a bunch of unwanted fuzzies went away.

Traded power tubes, not much difference.

Question is have i become so used to the SS rectifier in my Bassman that its messing with me ? or is my very cool RCA / Mullard the problem ? YIKES !!! I have a JJ GZ34 in my tube stash, I'll try it in the morning.

This is one of the few documentable examples of an export silverface that I've seen, in this case a non-reverb '69 Princeton......

Blackface export models had no special markings on the front panel although the tube charts were often marked as such on the top line of text.

Hate to bring up the grunt work, but have you checked the voltage readings and cleaned everything? A preamp tube substution, one -at- time , may be another approach. Flab would usually be derived from the power supply or the power amp section. How is that phase inverter tube? But Chris, dirt or oxidation can play nasty little tricks on us. And all of our high-brow diagnostics, don't count for much, in that case! Art

The amp is clean as a whistle till ya get past 2.8 to 3 on the volume control, then it sounds like you hooked up a real cheap dsitortion pedal to it.
Way worse than low fi, its stink fi.
Like as in a hot rod deluxe with its more OD sounds better.

I tried multiple cabs and speaker configurations (all 4 ohms) and it didn't make a big difference.

I'll recheck bias and swap out the 12AT7's to some known good ones, my tube tester was a piece of junk and my buddies is way across town, i gotta find another one !
