Chris, the old caps may be very useful. Depending on their construction, they may be gems. Art

I'm betting that a television repairman once owned that HV test probe. My Dad had one just like it.

The small brown box is full of Carbon comps, most with tags still in place
So a nice haul of NOS resistors.

Yes this collection did indeed come from a retired TV guy.
He said something about using the probe on "flyback transformers" ????

and a ton of junk tubes !!! three nice nos 6878's a bunch of on the edge of "good" 6V6's
and a few 12AX7's

Not even close to the last haul, but hey ya can't strike gold every time.

Precisely.

Several thousand volts, IIRC.

heck no !

But hey ya never know when they might be a good trade item.

I still don't own a real good set of 6L6GC's
Gonna go back to TAD's here real soon ! I'm just not crazy about those RI Tung-Sols any more.

The Valve art or whatever they are called in the Bandmaster have suprised me in that they sound great and have held up well so far, I think they are Chinese.

Phansford the Model is 6152 The one with Reverb and tremolo

Thanks BMW for the 411 on the tubes, the GE's will skyrocket soon (they allways do)
The Baldwin may be sleepers and great candidates !

Looks like a great amp, Chris! Guessing a Chicago(Valco) '60's built amp. Looks like 9 pin preamp tubes. What do you have in the power section? Art

yes its a Chicago made Valco
four 12AX7's one 6v6GT & one 5y3GT rectifier
I swapped out the cheap chinese 6V6 some "tech" put in it and it came alive !!! I'm betting a few RCA 12AX7's will do a # on that pre amp too.

So why in the world do people take their vintage amps into "techs" to have them Steal, i mean replace all of their tubes ????
Every ad on Craigs list says "just had it retubed buy a tech" and the tech just replaced my mullards and RCA's with Crappy Russian and Chinese junk !

O.K. enough of that Ranting !
