Here's a rough version of us doing Whippin' Post a couple of weeks ago, flyin' by the seat of our pants....I always hear all the mistakes and missed notes,we've done it a lot better.
Trust me,the live sound was so much better at this venue...I'm playing my '62 Reissue with David Allen pickups through my '67 Vibrolux,my son is playing a '57 Reissue with Fralins through the '60 Super.

Reb, that was some dang fine playing...Your son has a pretty nice Allman vocal tone going too! Thanks for posting that one!

Question for you, do you ever find you would rather use a Gibson on certain songs that seem to lend themselves to them like Whipping post? Every time we did Crossroads or White Room, I always seem to grab the 335 as it seems playing wise it was the right guitar for those. I always feel like I play differently on a Gibson vs a Strat.

Again, nice playing.

Thanks so much T2!
I still have my old Les Paul Custom, and it comes out sometimes, but only at certain nice places where I can keep a close eye on it!...I've had it for almost 40 years.
The sound on the video is not very clear, and the guitars sound fairly different than they did onstage, mine has more of a midrange tone so I can get by with it on songs like this one,in the video they all sound kinda generic....it was just through a point and shoot camera with vid capability...someday I hope to have a pro shot video at one of the gigs,I have several friends who can do it.
Thanks again!!

thanks so much Art! I figured I would post it here also rather than just in the Lounge area, because we talk so much about vintage amps,I just wish the true sound of those two amps could be heard on the clip, they sound amazing in person, tone for days.

My favorite allman bros tune.

Pro recording live is something i would like to learn and do, just as a hobby, which means it woudn't be Pro then

Biggest mistake you usualy get live is rushing the tempo, you guys held it down pretty well !

Missed notes, who cares! perfect scores are for studio recordings with lots of time on their hands and tons of editing, live is where its at !

6 am, the performance went well with my first cup of coffee

Very tasty RS!

Put me in the mood to pull that record out.

You boys have a lot of nice gear to support you on stage too. Must take a while to put it together and break it down.

Thanks everybody,especially Chuck Norris
Tyronne, all that we had were two vintage Fender amps,a '67 Vibrolux Reverb, which I played through and my son was running through a '60 Super...the other gear you see is another band's who were playing after we did, they had Marshall,Line 6s,all sorts of stuff, and they had a loud muddy sound.
The drums are the house set owned by the venue and the bass rig is too,our amps were mic'ed and sounded very clean and had some great crunch just beginning at the 5/6 volume knob level....that's why it's too bad that you can't hear what the live sound had going for it,just hearing it recorded through the video camera.
My point is after saying all of that is this, you can take these vintage amps if they have been maintained and in gig worthy condition and play just about any room that we non famous guys usually play and sound great....the other musicians who haul all the stacks and tons of pedals around to chase their tone are always impressed with our simple yet effective approach to achieve that tone.

It's interesting you bring that up...I've noticed that bands with the least equipment often sound best!

And this is with both "established bands" and "working bands".

Some bands try to impress with the amount of gear vs. chops! They look impressive until they start playing.

Thanks cedar!...I could say the same for your amps that I've seen!
Like Arjay said,we let the simple amps and guitars do the talking....it's funny to hear all the other bands with their modern, latest, greatest amps, that strive to simulate the Vintage Fender Sound!!
I went through that stage many years ago to finally realize to get what I really wanted,I had to come back to the old Fender amps.

Reb - VERY NICE. You guys sound really tight.

I think the audio/vid on this clip is great. You should add a description and add some tags to this clip. I think a lot of people would like to find this clip enjoyable and a nice surprise to have come up in a search. I would tag a ton of stuff....... the song name, the amps, your band name, allman brothers.....

Thanks phansford!
I didn't put it on youtube, but I'll tell the guy who did to do that...he filmed the whole set, about an hour and 1/2,I guess he will add some more songs, when he does I'll pass it along to y'all.
It makes me feel good to have positive comments from my brother musicians,we are having lots of fun playing together.
