Jack...try a good Weber 12F150, these are their replacement for the old Jensen C12N or Oxfords which came in the Bandmaster and Bassmans during the blackface era. I have heard nothing but great things about Weber Speakers...

Or you could try Kendricks...I really like these myself...have one of thier black frames in my Champ...great speakers. Try this model, KEN0603-Spk-12BL, it is their replacement for a Jensen C12N.

No Bandmaster was ever factory-equipped with C12N's -- those were reserved for Bassman's and Twin Reverb's. An OEM Jensen for this amp would've been the C12Q or later in the production cycle, the Oxford 12L8 or a similar-spec Utah. OEM Bandmaster speakers will often be marked with the Fender P/N "081810" regardless of the brand.

I stand corrected  But I thought as far as Jensen C12Ns and Qs the only real differences was the speakers power handling?

Jack, I have a '67 Band Master. The 2X12 cab has a Weber California and a Celestion Vintage 30. Works fine for my use. Art

Correct.

That, and the wholesale cost-per-unit to Leo & company. The "Q" at 25 watts was cheaper than the 50-watt "N". The Bandmaster only made 40 watts -- ergo, it got the less expensive speaker.

In my 65 Bandmaster 2x12 combo I have 2 of the Weber California ceramic 12's with the aluminum dust caps. Sounds great, although really bright -- almost too bright.

In my closed bandmaster cabinet, I have 2 of the Warehouse Speakers G12C ceramics. A lot sweeter sound for the showman, but will roar for crunch. Bought these after the guy who redid my showman had done a speaker shootout for his Deluxe -- and found that besides the Kendrick Black Frame at $149 each, the Warehouse were the ones he liked.

I know comparing open back and closed isn't ideal, but I will most likely be selling the Webers this year and ordering another set of the Warehouse Speakers for the Bandmaster.

Nedo, my B' Master cab is open backed. Are the Warehouse speakers pretty smooth? Been thinkin' about moving the California. But i'm not a speaker enthusiast, actually that would be my main amp weakness. Do you have a link for that company? Art

A 10A125 Weber alnico 2 x 10 or 4 X 10 inch is quite a nice combo with this amp. Plenty of huevos, yet that warm articulation sbutle tones are not lost in over-boomy bass.

I put a BMR head into a 2 X 10 cab (10A125O) speakers. Very tasty results.

Very smooth indeed. Love them.

http://wgs4.com is their website.

Did a VC a while back using a BMR. The speaker is a Altec 418B. Very nice sound with big punch, no brittle highs, takes OD great......all in all a good speaker choice. This is with a beefed up OT from the standard BM though.
I have a standard BMR that is running an EVM12L. It loses a bit of the low volume level Fender chime but anythign above 2.5 on the vilume dial an it is singing. This BMR came with a pristine 1972/73 2x12 cab with Utahs. The Utahs were not very good. No volume, no punch, no life.
