I am about to purchase this amp and had a few questions for forum members:

The amp is the "trem" version (no reverb) and has the black knobs as opposed to the round cream knobs I see on m most 64 Princetons on ebay; anyone know why? One owner amp - Owner says everything is original.

There is a rattle in the amp when the volume exceeds "3"; any ideas?

The amp still has the "lamp cord" plug. Concerns vs keeping it authentic/original?

Thanks

JR

I believe the 64 Princeton with white knobs has a Tone control only while the black skirt knob has Bass and Treble controls.

Is the rattle coming out of the speakers or the back of the cabinets? You may want to gently tap the tubes while it's on and see if some bad scratchy noise coming out of a tube going south maybe.

Change the 2 prongs cord to a 3 prongs but keep the old cord.

+1 all around.

As well, if the cap can has not been replaced within the last ten years or so, now is the time to do it. Be sure to check the resistors on the power rail for evidence of aged- or thermal-related degradation -- replace as warranted.

Thanks for the responses; I will act accordingly.

Another question:

Does anyone know which circuit is in this amp?

If the amp was built earlier than September, the only other alternative is the 6G2 circuit.

And if it is a Dated after September and Coded "NL"...Dec 64...it should look alot like below...and without the Fender Amp logo...they got those in '65.
Going to have to take some more photos, didn't have a single of just the Princeton, my apologies!
