Arjay! Field stripping your piece is a must before any electronics work! Friend and I went to range to test drive his Garrands. Those are beautiful mass-produced items. As we were saying about pride of workmanship.

Gotta another 1965 Reverb Unit coming over the bench, maybe this weekend. When redone, those things are better than peanut butter and jam toast.

BTW... I plopped an NOS 6K6GT into a RI '62 Reverb Unit and it seems to be a definite improvement over the OEM 6V6GT. No change to cathode resistor or bypass values. May want to try it... and see what youu think.

AHHHH The smell of hoppes !

I took a side gig this last Christmas with Bass pro shops in their hunting dept., It took me back.
One of my very first jobs was at a lake side Bait / hunting shop in the summers, it was in the same building as my Dad's used car lot.
I Used to hunt and shoot a lot, Steel plate challenge, surrender possition, draw, Fire, reload and my weapon of choice ? a Smith M&P model 13.
See I've been old school and simple for a long time !

8) I have a very nice large area that was meant to be a one car garage, the girl I bought the house from had it finished and carpeted during construction...my plans are to make it a music room for repair, recording, and whatever, the gun safe, and ammo box stack is in there so it would be convenient to arms repair and cleaning.
Until I get the gumption to do that, all work is done at the kitchen table. :(

Arjay, Yes... it was one of your RCA 6K6GT. Going go for low inductance ww resistor in place of the CC on the cathode of that 6K6GT (R10, on RI model). Of all the pentodes or beam tetrodes I've played with in single-ended setting, this 6K6GT seems most sensitive to induction in the cathode resistor. Tone is cleaner & it holds a more steady bias.

I'll rotate a few 6K6GT through the unit and give a "quick-&-dirty" report. Love to get the RI close to the 6G15. Was thinking maybe that 250 pico-farad after the tone control on the output may benefit from a silver mica swap-out (C10). Have you noticed that the recent production Fender amps and EFX circuits use kinda questionable (at very best) ceramic caps in their circuits? Some aren't even stamped with any kind of designation. Like they were made on Mars.

Indeed.

They didn't even have the gall to mark them as "Brand X".

Hell......even Wiley Coyote bought name-brand stuff (from "ACME").

WOW ! I'm really impressed with your(all of you) studios and work spaces. Your sophistication shouldn't suprise me. I'm engulfed in old wood floor rafters and field stone walls. It's a wonder how I get anything done, and find that true tone will never fade! Art
