I decided to do a little maintenance on my BMR and ended up replacing all the mallory electrolytics as well as the tremolo caps. They were all way above spec, 35uf and up. The tremolo had been on the weak side with hardly any intensity to it. Fired it up and sweet mercy, I should have done this sooner. The tremolo is back, intensity is working as normal now. But the best part is this amp really packs a punch now. At ten......yup, had to do it, it breaks up smooth but with a really nice overdriven sound played with a Les Paul.
This amp has been my go to amp for all my gigs with my Deluxe reverb as a backup. Needless to say, I need to take care of this baby really well.
Here are some pics.

Nice job! WIMA caps ought to be nice for the tremolo circuit.

I'm not at all surprised that some routine maintenance has put some virility back into the amp. At its core, the Bandmaster Reverb is for all intents and purposes a Super Reverb with a Pro Reverb output tranny. With some careful rewiring to AB763 specs, the BMR is one of those dirty little secrets that tone junkies have known for years. And its 4-ohm output provides some increased flexibility when choosing a speaker array.

Beemer, I've began using wimas exclusively for the trem circuits lately and they're great substitutes. Got them in my Bronco and now this one. They do a great job. :D

Arjay, that "dirty little secret" was implemented way back when. Shhhh, don't tell any one. 8)

True that, but many people still dismiss the Bandmaster Reverb as a CBS-era boat anchor without knowing the potential that lies within its chassis.

Hello all,

After much deliberation and some unexpected gift cards, I decided to rehouse my BMR. Behold, my newly rehoused
It will be loaded with a 15" Eminence legend at 4 ohms, which should arrive within the next two weeks. The cab was built by The Cab Guy and the work is fantastic. I currently have a unknown model eminence 15" speaker loaded that I had lying around. It sounds decent until the new one comes in. Can't wait.....

Anyhow, i just wanted to share.

Foh sho Arjay, I've always loved the early breakup and compression of the BMR. Your recommendations came in handy, thanks.

Very nice! Looks like that BMR was made for that cab. Is the cab BF or SF Super Reverb sized? You still have the original head cab?

I believe it was built for a customer who was requesting a 15" speaker baffle for his super reverb....so the story goes. Anyhow, at 23 1/2", it accommodated the BMR chasis perfectly. I had been contemplating the switch for a while now, with lack of funds being the only thing holding me back. Needles to say, tech of the quarter and a nice gift card from my employer made it all possibles. :D I did keep the BMR head cab. Wrapped it up and shelved it.

She does look b.e.a.youtiful though, doesn't she. :D oh, and took measurements and made a template of the faceplate. I'm now working on a getting a new one made. I have customers with all the machinery to accomplish this. Can't wait.

We'll expect a preliminary sonic report as soon as that Eminence Legend is installed.

Hey all,

I just received the speaker and finished installing it. Preliminary results are "it sounds real good" :D . I'll be playing through it tonight at rehearsal and we'll see how she breaks in.

Here is the data sheet on the speaker that came in the box. I'll try to post some audio samples as soon as I can work out some recording time.

And here's the new speaker installed.
