Does anyone have an opinion on this? I recently bought a supposedly ReIssue at Guitar Center. After doing some research I found the transformers to be dated 1966 and the pots dated early 1975. The circuit board looks hand wired to me. I am no expert. I know it is not printed circuit. Could this be a Silver Face that has been modified to a Blackface? I noticed that when I turn down the treble, middle and Bass I lose almost all volume but I can never turn the volume all the way down. It always produces some volume. It is like a non Master Volume amp. The Serial number was hard to find info on but according to some web sites it is 1974-75 era. It starts with a Bxxxxx. The only thing that doesn't work on this thing is the Vibrato. I think the Amp sounds great but it doesn't sound like the reissues to me.

I have two silverface twin reverb chassis on my bench right now. One is a 74 the other is a 76. There should be a ser.# stamped on the right side of your chassis adjacent to the rear plate. It should start with A if it is in this age group. Unfortunately the silverface are hard to date by ser# or transformer#. Based on the problem you are describing I think you have a silverface that has hade the master volume control removed and a blackface panel installed. This can be done but it requires some modifications to the electronics. If these mods have not been done to conform to blackface specs you will experience the problem you describe. In order to verify if it is indeed a silverface you need to remove the frony blackface panel. Pilot jewl needs to be uncrewed, all knobs must come off, 4 screws holding the bright switches, speed pot nut and washer as well as your #2 input normal channel nut and washer. Remove the front panel anif you find an additional hole in the chassis between the intensity pot and the pilot light you have a silver face.
